Yellow diamond halos?

Thanks, Yssie.

Okay, here's the "final" version reflecting the thicker wedding band. I'm going to let this roll around in my brain.

Tossing out another idea - what do you think of adding milgrain to the band as well, like the Aurora?

Pregcurious, I think this is a fantastic idea and the yellow diamond halo will look both elegant and unusual. As someone with a near identical stone and in a similar situation, I love that you are going for a final reset to get exactly ring you want.

milgraining to the band too will look fab! are you setting the yellow sapphires in yellow gold too?

I don't know if this helps but I have two rings that have yellow diamond centres and yellow/white diamond melees. I think if I added millgraining to either of these they would become fussy but you might get away with it if you have a plain shank. However, I love the white diamonds on w/gold and yellow diamonds on y/gold combination so not sure if this gives you any other ideas?

Sorry for the quality of the photo!

Yssie, thanks for thinking of adding milgrain to the edges of the shank. My wedding band is plain, so I will try on some milgrained ering settings to see how it looks together. I think the rings will look better as a set with no milgrain in the ering reset, but as a stand alone ring, I think the ering would look better with milgrain.

Ametrine, I am planning on setting fancy yellow diamond melee into 18K yellow gold to complement the color of the melee, and to tie the ring with my wedding band.

Lottie, I'm so nervous about doing another setting without seeing it. I have to do something though because my diamonds sits unworn. I am putting of other major jewelry projects until this is done because this is much more important. I wish I could walk into a store and just see a setting like this, but I haven't looked around _a lot_ and haven't seen anything like it.

LD, thank you for posting those beautiful rings! I think you might be right about the milgrain. Do you have a thread on those rings?

DBL makes halos in all colors, even orange brown melee, they do a lot more than what is posted on the site. I would def contact David!

I second this.

I really like this version.

Thanks Amy's Bling. I am hesitating to contact DBL because I haven't seen anything on his site that fits my idea for this ring. His rings appear to be very blingy (lots of pave and halos), or very plain (plain shank with bezels). Does he do CAD/cast? Maybe that would be a way of working out expectations?

EDIT: Do guys think that the different thicknesses of the rings will look bad? My wedding band is 2.5 mm, but I've grown to like rings with thinner bands, so I am thinking of making the ering setting with 2 mm.

I believe he does. Yssie would know better- she just got her completed custom piece from DBL.

He does do CAD/cast work as well as handforging. I only have experience with his handforging work - which was also of a different style to what you see on his site, and which I am very happy with!

David is easy to talk to and work with - I would definitely recommend contacting him and seeing what he has to say ::)

No, I think rings of different widths can look fantastic together - I like all rings to match in depth/height off the finger though, regardless of width.

Totally agree with you Yssie on the height/depth matching. ThT is why I sold my twist spacer bands- they were not as tall as my ERing and wedding band and drove me nuts!

I liked the version with the plain bezel and the milgrained halo. To my eye, there is a disconnect with the plain shank and the two milgrained halos.

I read a bunch of threads about DBL, and I have to say, I am impressed. What stood out from the threads I read was that his customers say that DBL is committed to customer satisfaction. I'll give DBL a call when I get closer to pulling the trigger. I have no idea about their prices though, but if they're reasonable, I would be willing to fly out to NYC to see things before starting the project.

I agree with this. The height has to match. I should buy a digital caliper, or work with a vendor I can visit in person so they can take measurements. I'm not sure I am comfortable with sending my wedding band through the mail. It's my least expensive and most precious piece of jewelry.

Thanks, Heraanderson for your post. I am undecided about the milgrain on the bezel, but definitely want milgrain on the outside edge of the halo. I think whoever makes this should be able to send me photos of the ring near completion, before any milgraining is done, so I can decide at that stage.

I dont think that should be a problem.

Thanks, Yssie for the digital caliper link. If I got with DBL, I'll probably make a trip to NYC because I'm already on the East Coast.

Okay, I was looking on PS for RBs set in cushion-shaped rings, and I bumped into Kristi's:

If I decide to go with a full pave ring like this, will I lose pave if I wear it everyday? I have a toddler. I was leaving towards the BGD setting with a plain shank because I think it could stand up to my lifestyle, but I love Kristi's delicate all pave ring. I guess I'm kind of answering my own question.
