Hey there PS family,
I have a decision to make and would love your opinions if you'd be so kind as to share them. =)2

My pear is 7.17x10.91 fancy light brown yellow and for the life of me I can't decide what direction go.

So these are the inspiration photos and a photo of similar pear that is larger than mine but will give idea of color...

Design inspiration photos attached.

Opinions galore here!

I do have a gut feeling one way - but I think for it to be an educated feeling to share-
Can you show us your pear itself? And your sidestone pears, do you already have them? I think their flavor/shape really comes into the equation in a not so small way.

I :kiss2: The first one

Are these my only options or can I suggest another

Thank you @Neil. I love the 2nd design!!!

Anything in a lineup like a threestone or a five stone (even like your graduated example) I feel (for myself of course) that all the pears would need pretty similar ratios/facet pattern/coloring
Especially if they are modern cuts.
Much less so if they were old cuts.

Otherwise I’d choose a different (abstract?) grouping over a traditional 3/5 stone straight lineup.

I wanted to do a cluster halo made with modern pears and basically have given up the idea for this very reason.

I like the second one with the baguettes. I also like the halo and the second and third images from Niel.

Kinda boring, I know, but I really like the classic, single halo. The pear is already big.

The white melee will enhance the tint and really let the center stone shine.

I’m not a fan of halo settings, so I vote the three stone with pear sides. To me, it is more classic and I prefer how clean and sleek it looks. In saying that, the proportions of the ones in the photos don’t seem quite right to me.

What a fun project though!

I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and comments. I love the traditional and non traditional settings and halos.

im considering metal Halo to highlight fancy pear. I also want two sides. The sides are .42ct m SI1 4.06x6.93x2.48 & .41ct m si2 4.06x6.98x2.45 l/w ratio similar on both.

I saw this 3 stone pear configuration and my wheels started turning again...1227.-TRIADRINGWITHPEAR3.00yellow_5000x.jpg

Ok, so you do already have the side stones? I was wondering about a 3 stone with half-moons?

Yes I already have pear side stones

i know I definitely need a bezel set ring. Bezel halo…bezel three stone…bezel combo

With bezel I was thinking 18k YG for entire ring. But should I just have the fancy pear bezel YG and the rest of ring white gold?

I would have yellow gold around the yellow pear. I think it would highlight the stone beautifully.

I wouldn’t bezel it. In my experience a pear will loose a lot of its sparkle that way.

That's interesting @Niel. I had no idea.

I have seen a few pear bezels designs on PS. I could see how bezel could prevent light from hitting diamond but if there is an open gallery and maybe not so wide of bezel seems light pear would lose too much sparkle...I could be wrong though.

Two of the rings I was thinking of. But maybe @NKOTB is not a bezel because I see prongs...

This on is a PSer too

The width of the bezel isn’t the issue.
And no anything with prongs like KNOTB is not bezeled.
Is it a modern pear or an antique ?

Modern

Why do pears not sparkle as much in bezels?

Why do pears not sparkle as much in bezels?

I’m not going to have the technical reason for that but a modern pear will not be improved by bezeling. If you have more questions on that hopefully someone can answer that for you. You can certainly still emphasize the shape with faux bezels and halos tho.

no prob. i appreciate you sharing. I will definitely go with a faux bezel Because I don’t want to hinder my stones scintillation and sparkle. Thank you!

So I was working a mock up of possible halo and tree stone combo. Before got the infor on how bezels affect pears.

DK cad is giving me 2nd thoughts on both halo and 3stone...I'm leaning now toward faux bezel ctr and bezel halo. No pear sides.

I have a few opinions on this cad but the most glaring thing is that the halo looks like a part of the female anatomy.

Really? I don't see female anatomy anywhere.
My halo inspiration is attached. We are trying to modify to pear with larger stones.
So fare the changes will be adding 4.2rounds on both sides of 4.4mm round, reducing the amount of .015 pointers and adding .025 point at tip.Erika-Winters-Fine-Jewelry-Georgia-Halo-marquise.jpg
