you GO girl
YOU GO girl
YOU GO GIRL!

So are politics allowed now? I would LOVE to have a discussion if the rules have changed

Nope

Who said anything about the P-word?

I’m surprised you think gaslighting is an acceptable behavior Kenny. Nice try. ;))

Girl is right! I wish there was a bright, intelligent, savvy woman around...

no

@Sunrises Sunsets This thread was started with the best of intentions, in a spirit of exuberant celebration of much-needed hope after a light suddenly appeared at the end of a long dark tunnel.
But, as often the case on social media, it has gone south.

This is not an apology; I don't see that I've done wrong.
But I will say that I am disappointed and surprised that some here apparently took offense.

The phrase, "You go girl" started in a campy corner of the gay community but (as terms from minorities often do) it has leaked into mainstream lexicon.

But what's mainstream to one, is not mainstream to all.
Of course not everyone is aware of all slang in use; after all, it's slang.
Hence, UD.

If a woman started this thread she'd get away with what is a sin, coming from a man.
That's messed up. :nono:

Okay, I'm ready. d.png

I think your explanation is confusing and I'm not grasping the intent, no offense intended.

Of course, I've heard the term, "you go girl" in my mainstream life. If I have the opportunity, I'll have to ask the gay members in our family whether they knew about it's origin in the gay community.

I don't want you to apologize, mine was a light-hearted response. That's the problem with online correspondence.

:))

Alright I’m going I’m going! jeez!

I think your explanation is confusing and I'm not grasping the intent ...

Explanation:

I start a thread honoring a very bright, intelligent, and savvy woman.
You reply, "I wish there was a bright, intelligent, savvy woman around..." while pointing out my use of a saying that incudes the word, girl.

That's confusing.

BTW the origin of the phrase, "You go girl." is not germane to this topic.

Ahh, there we have it and sorry I misunderstood your message to me. After much independent research, I have a completely different perspective than you but the good thing is we can disagree and it doesn't have to be ugly. Sleep well, Kenny

I like when, instead of biting each other's heads off, we can talk.
Then talk more.
Then talk, some more.

... finally we get here, where we may disagree, but have calmly and respectfully made our points and gotten everything off our chests ... and still be nice.
Hugs to you, SS. :wavey:

And hugs back to you, Kenny.

:))

Finally, it's dawned on this dummy.
... two colossal misunderstandings ... or two ships that crash in the night. :confused2:
Duh!

The comment wasn't about me being misogynist.
It was a comment about her.

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'Cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
And no one's ever gonna keep me down again

Yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I've gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
'Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'Cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

Yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I've gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

I am woman, watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still a little embryo
With such a long, long way to go
Until I make my brother understand

Oh yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I've gained
If I have to, I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

Hey @Matata you should write a song.

Hey @Matata you should write a song
Alas, I lack the talent.

I wonder if anyone will take exception to a woman who roars. Do girls roar? Can girls roar? Why weren't roaring girls included in the song? How old is a girl, a woman and who decides? Do trans girls and women roar or only cis women and girls? :evil2:

P.S. For those who don't remember: singer Helen Reddy, song released in 1972.

Yes, women absolutely can and do roar
