I know some of you have been to Paris. I am planning a trip there! Please give me your best ideas. Thank you, Merci!

How exciting! Can definitely recommend a visit to the Louvre & the Eiffel Tower. The Pompidou Centre is a bit of an architectural wonder & a visit to the Arc du Triumphe - it’s a LOT bigger than it looks in pictures!

The Catacombs! Notre Dame. And all the little corner cafes... patisseries...

Yes to everything!

Hi.
Take a tour on the boats that navigate the Seine in Paris. You can see the famous " left bank:, and other sights along the way.
I went to Notre Dome and said Vespers at 6pm on a Sunday Evening. My Jewish friend and I were moved by the singing.
Walk the Champs Ellysses and stop at a cafe and people watch.
Paris is my favorite foreign city. Enjoy!

In the west of Paris is the Palace of Versaille, one of my very favorite places -- plan to spend hours inside the Palace and outside on the grounds

I also greatly enjoyed visiting Victor Hugo's Maison in the Place des Voges, Marais district

Sacre Coeur Basilica in Montmartre

And walking through the Tuileries Gardens and along the Champs Elysees is lovely

Sacré-Cœur at night looking towards Eiffel Tower. It was truly romantic when I was with the right person.

Beware of pickpockets though.

DK :))

My husband and I enjoyed taking the Batabus (boat bus) up and down the Seine, and stopping anywhere we want for the day. Notre Dame (we went before fire) was beautiful, Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Sacre coere…we did everything on foot and boat.

The Louvre.

+1 to all the lovely places already mentioned!

I love the Musée d'Orsay (you’ll find Starry Night here).

Hot chocolate at Angelina or Café Richelieu.

A good day trip is Monet’s House in Giverny - the gardens are spectacular.

I also like wandering the Clignancourt flea market (“Les Puces”) for amazing antiques!

I don't know where to go for antique jewelry, but I bet Paris has fabulous shops. There was one in Geneva when I spent time there in the 80s that had amazing pieces. I fell passionately in love with a black Art Deco cigarette case set with square rubies - and I hate smoking! This place actually sold some of the Duchess of Windsor's jewels. What a window! Naturally I was too poor to go inside, but I stared into it so long that I think I developed a relationship with the glass

Adding to the above:
The Rodin Museum, Galleries Lafayette and the gourmet hall on the lower level, The Cluny Museum, and just wandering around different neighborhoods and stopping at cafes.

Something different but worth a visit: Musée de la chasse et de la nature.

If you go to the Louvre, stay in the North side of the museum (Northern Europe) and ignore the South (and the Italian Renaissance including the teeming throngs by the Mona Lisa). It hurts but you will have all the Rembrandts, Vermeers, and Rubens(es) to yourself. No lie. Arguably the best travel tip I ever got.

And: do not Google it but you must go to Sainte-Chapelle in late afternoon on a sunny day. I repeat: do not Google it. Just go. One DD taught in the Loire Valley for a year and had us pop in there on a whim when Notre Dame was under renovation (days before the tragic fire).

Oh, and of course, L'As du Fallafel in Le Marais.

I loved that restaurant!!

Nothing to add to all the wonderful recommendations but just wanted to say have a wonderful trip. Paris is magical IMO and a very romantic city :kiss2: (plus the shopping there is fabulous)

Galeries Lafayette, the main one, if shopping is your thing.

DK :))

So many excellent recommendations here.
Le Baron Rouge is my hands down favorite wine bar. By a mile.
The Catacombs were super interesting, and worth a visit unless you are put off by the bones. But take a sweater. It tends to be chilly. As @LilAlex mentions, only do Sainte-Chapelle on a sunny day. The d'Orsay is one of my faves because of their collection from the Art Nouveau period. I go back every time I'm in the city. The l'Orangerie is worth it to see Monet's Water Lilies in a truly spectacular room designed specifically to house them.
And here's an odd one - Coutellerie Laguiole-Renaud. They sell fantastic French-made knives. I've purchased incredible cheese knives, steak knives, pocket knives, picnic knives, and a few beautiful wedding gifts there. Not cheap, but they will last your lifetime, and beyond.

Hopefully you’re aware of the riots happening there. I would be checking daily to make sure anything you plan is still open.

The jewellery stores at Place Vendome.

Another nice thing to do is to buy bread, cheese, fruit, and wine in an easy open container on Rue Cler (Metro stop Ecole Militaire) which is a few blocks away from the Eiffel Tower. Then have a picnic lunch in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower on the Champ de Mars which is the park right next to it. :D
