Thanks! Yes the sideways setting was definitely a challenge, took quite a bit of work to get it to look right. Got in quite a few arguments with my ''designer'' about it... but my girlfriend had only one request, a pear diamond in a sideways setting. And I wasn''t going to budge no matter how much my ''designer'' tried to convince me that it was a ''bad'' design...

I can''t wait to pop the question, she still has no idea

Good for sticking to your guns! It''s really pretty and different. I went through the same thing with with a couple of jewelers when I wanted to get my pear mounted point up instead of the normal way. The 1st 2 that I approached gave me static about it, so I went to someone else. The 3rd jeweler listened to what I wanted and made it without any grief.
 
That. Is. So. AWESOME!!! I love the pear, love the bezel, love the elegance of the ring - all of it. GORGEOUS. Pleeeeease come back with pics once you propose!!!
 
That ring is just lovely!! I think the design is beautiful, and I love that you stuck to your guns to give your future wife the ring she wants and wasn''t talked out of it by any jeweler. Excellent job! Please come back with hand shots after you ask her!

Thanks again for all the great comments everyone. The ring turned out better than I could have imagined.

The big question is going down this weekend, I''ll definitely post photos after.

@lweber: I purchased the stone through WF, they were incredibly helpful, my sales person was Liza Horowitz. I had the ring designed and set by a designer here in downtown Los Angeles.

Hi Everyone,

So as promised I''m attaching some photos of the ring on her finger. I proposed at Sunset on top of a large rock overlooking the Mojave Desert. She thought it was going to be just another regular weekend camping trip... Boy was she surprised. The weekend couldn''t have been more perfect. For those of you that have never been to the Mojave I''ll attach some photos of the area around our secret remote camping spot as well.
