I recently put down a deposit for a CVD diamond. The price was 1540 USD. 2.8ct F VVS2. Stonealgo rating is 9.3 and in the Holloway cut advisor the score is 1.

However, I'm just realising that the close up on Loupe 360 looks hazy and with possibly, lots of straining: https://loupe360.com/diamond/lgg1211117

Should I talk to the seller and hopefully exchange it for another stone?

Unfortunately, I don't live in the US, and there isn't any major online or in person lab diamond seller in my country.

In my circumstances, would HPHT be a safer choice?

Not necessarily, as long as you are working with a trusted vendor who can vet stones for you.
