Hi all, I took this mine cut diamond to my appraiser because I wanted to sell it and he advised me to keep it and send it to gia for identification. He thinks it might qualify as light yellow. It's almost 1 ct and VS clarity. I found one online that is certified light yellow by gia and put them side to side. What do you think? I've only sent mounted colored stones to gia before. Thank you in advance.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I thought stones must be unmounted for grading at GIA.

If you are trying to sell it you have to make sure it will sell for the cost of your investment. Might do some research on ebay and
see what something like this is selling for with and without being graded.

I don't know if I want to sell it now, if might be classified as fancy. I'm so terrible at getting rid of jewelry, it's good that I don't do this as a profession lol. I'd fail
Do you think it has potential as fancy?

Hi!!
Yellow Old Mines are super cool!!
My take:
1) don't waste time trying to compare to online pics....it's completely useless
2) I agree...selling diamonds is a VERY hard job. First you need to decide if that's the route.
If so, yes, the stone should be removed from the setting and sent to GIA.
Can we see a pic of the whole stone/piece?
HOw large is it?

@Rockdiamond I love antique jewelry, that's my weakness. It's around 0.8 ct. This is it, with the original platinum setting. It is crystal clear under the loupe. 20240503_184613.jpg
