“Imperial Jade” cabochon: did I make the right call

It’s expensive to me but just purely by quantum. Honestly don’t know what the norm is for imperial jadeite.

Just got bored and looking at Awethentic jade ;Melbourne)’s Facebook page and they put up this “imperial green” cabochon ring, good colour but not transparent enough for me? Just under 18x12x7mm and talk about GIA certificate so I figure more than $50000. Expect around 10 carat and $100K plus, what do you guys think? Still dreaming about getting a 2ct cabochon imperial jade…

I love this vendor. I trust them mainly for untreated jadeite and have 2 ice pendants and my new yellow/honey jadeite ring from them.

Glad that you dealt with them personally, another user here and I had long discussions about them August and September last year and found them suspicious, with not picking up the phone and not allowing face-to-face visit for purchase under $50000. They do put up excellent items and I still have a small imperial jade cabochon at the top of bucket list, either from them or Kathys in Taiwan.

I am in the USA. I found the fastest way is messaging them on their facebook page. I would get a reply back within minutes if I message the right time (different time zones) for my yellow jadeite ring I was able to pick the stone and have custom ring made and certified withing 3 weeks. Other pendants were already made so took like a week to get. I haven't tried calling or seeing things in person, but facebook messaging has been great! Here are a few items i got from them.

Thank you. I will keep them on watchlist, for time when they put up a small imperial-grade cabochon. Not many sellers in the market with those, just so expensive!

@Sydneyphoenix that looks large and quite translucent. It may be the angle of the shot but the proportions are not the “ideal” jade cab proportions (a bit long and not oval enough). It looks way more than 10ct.
A 2 -carat jade cab would be about 5 mm diameter. Is that the size you are looking for? I was browsing this site and saw some smaller round jade pieces. They look imperial green. I have not brought from this vendor before but they have been mentioned by other PS members.

I was considering a similar pair with two over 1 cm jadeite cabs on each side but (maybe thank goodness?) realised I can’t wear heavy earrings. Too uncomfortable.
Anyway, I am on a buying hiatus after that emerald!

Use ear stickers! That’s what I do with my heavy earrings.

My jeweller is a size 22 for his ring finger. That’s said I don’t think the cabs are that big. I suppose it’s a combi of the color and translucency.
