14k or 18k for my mahenge pendant? Which style chain?

Some of you may already know of my Little Red Devil. Anyhow, I am getting him set in a bezel set sliding pendant in yellow gold.

Budget is sort of limited so I can't do 22k or 24k... so my options are 18k or 14k. There is a 120$ difference between the two for the pendant. Which to go for??? Will there really be a visual difference? Which should I go for?

As for the chain... 10k 14k or 18k? In which style? I am getting a sliding pendant.... something smooth of course... but I really do not like the square box chain or cable link chain... Any suggestions?? Experiences?

While I love 18kt gold and higher, I do think 14kt yellow gold would showcase your stone beautifully - and maybe this style chain?
