Hey,

I’m looking into getting a pair of round 2 carat natural diamond studs. I could use some help finding the right ones. My budget is to stay way under 6,000$/US if I can. Excellent cut Is my priority. I want to make sure my studs do not appear more yellow than my GIA G wedding ring. I am ok with an “i” color or less, if it doesn't show the yellow (and if lower color can save me some money). I see tons of natural IGI certificates within my price range, but I hear the quality isn’t as good as the GIA. Any suggestions?

It is not the quality of the grading reports but rather the accuracy of them. Diamonds stay the same - the question is who is the most accurate and reliable in terms of grading. I would only consider GIA graded diamonds for myself. To that end, I am afraid that your budget or size requirement might have to be adjusted.

I’m afraid you’re right. I think what I’ll do is buy one GIA diamond and get the other next year, then build my earrings. I think that would fit my budget best for now. Thanks for your advice. I’d rather best quality and GIA accuracy.

What about getting a pair of diamonds from a vendor like Whiteflash with a trade-up policy? That way you could have a pair to wear now, though smaller or lower color/clarity)than you'd like, but you'd be able to upgrade them when you budget allows. Gives you something fun and wearable in the meantime. Also, you'd be getting the best cut/most sparkly ones out there.

I always say you will never regret buying quality. You are on the right track IMO!

OP
Yesterday I was watching either QVC or HSN, not sure which one, they were selling at special prices lab grown studs, 2, 3 and 4 ctw. I cannot remember the prices but it was amazing, but they are LGD, it might be worth finding the listing just for comparison. Good luck.
