COUTURE takes place annually (non-Covid annually) during Las Vegas Jewelry Week, which sees a number of gem & jewelry-centric events hosted in "The Entertainment Capital of the World." Promoted as an exclusive curation of high-end designer fine jewelry and luxury timepieces, the show is an opportunity for designers and brands to show their wares to retailers from around the world.

This year's COUTURE happened August 24-26 at the elegant Wynn, Las Vegas, it's usual home.

Understandably, designers and brands are protective of their creations. With advances in digital cameras and technology, a tipping point occurred where hard working designers started seeing creations they had just unveiled quickly plagiarized, copied and offered online. Now those creatives want to choose when and how images of their pieces get shared. As a result the floor is refreshingly clear of people aiming phone-cameras at everything. :)

With that said, I know PriceScopers love eye-candy and it was all-around. In fact, the best of the best was on display outside the exhibitors' areas.

To that end, in my capacity there, I was delighted to request and receive permission to share images of their award winners. :mrgreen2:

That's the first installment. More to come.

very much enjoyed this, and the more to come - wow!
thank you!

Have to agree, but the green flower bit with the blue centre is lovely.

Since I'm putting the work of these creatives out there I'll make a comment on their behalf, as an experienced artist.

I've been involved in competitive pageantry - music and movement - as a performer since I was a teen, and later as a composer/instructor at regional, state and national levels. A common theme in artistic channels is that - the bigger, more competitive and prestigious the event being judged - the more what high-level judges/experts reward tends to find itself separated from "fan-favorites."

I'm not saying anyone, or anything, is wrong here. That's the beauty of art. It's entirely in the eye of the beholder. One person sees item X as lumpy trash, another as complex treasure.

I just want to be sure to express appreciation for all those who are passionate about imagining, creating and communicating through art - whether their work resonates with everyone or not.

That said: Bring on the comments. It's interesting to read the various reactions.

Karl!!! Bless you for being so refreshingly honest!! I thought the same and didn't want to say anything.

I was sitting here thinking, "Man, I must have terrible taste because I hate most of this stuff."

:lol-2:

So funny. I actually love that piece. Somehow I can see it as part of a flower-child motif. Bell-bottoms. Blousy top. Huge sunglasses.

My wife happens to be with the rest of you tho.
