haha i know mmm, all my real life friends and family think i am INSANE about upgrading my ring....but i point out to them that i don''t want to drive a nice mercedes...i would prefer to wear my luxury car on my finger!

I tried that one on dh. I asked him if we could down-grade my Lexus SUV to a Honda or Toyota mini-SUV so that I could get my ring upgrade.....he didn''t go for it. He said that cars actually have a function, rings don''t.

Well, DSS (Diamond Shrinkage Syndrome) is a very real thing - believe me! And while I hate to be locked into anything

the more I live with my 2.36, the more I love it, and the more I think that this may very well be *it* for me.

I notice EVERYONE''S diamonds and I have yet (in my real life!) to see even one that comes CLOSE to this one. It''s gorgeous, and it''s a great size. And sure, if money were no object, I''d probably have a honkin'' 5 or 6 carat stone... but unfortunately

money IS an object. And there''s lots of other (necessary) things to be spending it on!

I don''t think my old stone (1.53) could have ever been my "forever" stone... but this one? Yeah... maybe!

But rings do have a function!
Ring = wife happy = kids happy = hubby happy!!! Now what better function is that?

I''d try and sell your other rings- at least see what you can get, plus beat the price rise. This should appeal a little to his male pysche.

Oh and try and bring it up when he wants to buy a new toy! That helps!

Jaysonsmom...the "modern" cushion isn't the H&A.... It's what I have...I have a 64 depth...and a 7.9 spread for a fancy and has a larger "spread" than a 7.9 round if that makes any sense b/c of its slightly square shape...which for a fancy is awesome...but it's a pretty expensive cut...but not as bad as the H&A round...they have them in depths of 61 and 62 too. That's my fantasy... But to get the spread you want...you'd have to get a way huge 3 carat cushion I bet....Damn you fancies...Damn you!

Oh yeah, jaysons, why not see if some ps vendors or a TRUSTED local vendor will consign your stones

I think you should beg and see if you can get the upgrade now...for the same money, the stone it will buy gets smaller and smaller. I say get the best and largest stone you can from a vendor with a 100% upgrade policy. Put it in a cheap white gold setting and save the lunch money and then keep going up until you're 100% happy!!!
