I''m suuuuuure there is a thread on this, but I can''t seem to find it. Sorry for the redundancy. You regular posters are truly saints to all of us who are still learning! If anyone finds the thread, feel free to just link to it. Thank you!

So I have a platinum engagement ring, but I''m thinking of switching it to my right hand and wearing an eternity band alone on the left when we get married. My e-ring is an asscher and I think it looks its best just alone against my skin. Anyway, we are looking to get a 2-3 ct prong set eternity band. If I get the 3 ct I''d be interested in getting white gold because it''s more than we wanted to spend.

Questions are- will the white gold yellow over time and make the diamonds in the band look yellow? Will the white gold be too soft to hold the stones over time? if I do decide to wear my e-ring with the eternity band, is it bad to have platinum against white gold?

It''s about $700 more for platinum, totally insignificant in the cost of the e-ring, wedding band and wedding, but at this stage we have put so much money in to all of those things it''s hard to want to spend the extra cash.

thanks for your help!

Def go for the platinum. It requires less maintanance, very durable, and shiny. White gold, gold, and silver lose shine and wear thin over time.

Thanks Daisi! Appreciate it! I think I needed that push!

Agreed. It is not a huge amount more, so I would go for the platinum. You would probably save money in the end with replating, etc.

For the small difference I would get the platinum for the long term.

Thank you Steph and AprilBaby! So helpful!

Totally agree, go with the platinum! I sized my eternity band so that I can wear it on either hand - when I wear my 3 stone anniversary/e-ring, I wear the eternity on my right - otherwise I wear the bad solo on my left - over time with wear & tear, you will appreciate the durability of the platinum and not having to replate your band!! Just think about amortizing the $700 over ''eternity'' and it''s not that much.
