Many moons ago I pretty much unloaded all my loose CS so I could save up for this! I orginally wanted it for an art deco halo ring but I think the color is actually too saturated so now I'm debating it in a simple setting with traps. Anyhow the vitals are: 8.82 x 10.45 mm and 5.33 ct. Jeff was amazing as always to work with.

   Stay with your original Art Deco idea, especially since a white metal will lessen the saturation a notch.

I just sent the payment today so I'm sure I will get it at some point in the next week. I will take some more pictures when I have it.

Does anyone have a suggestion for the setting. Right now I'm sort of wavering between these 3.

And for reference here is my art deco inspirtation ring but I think the size of the EC plus this halo would be too large for me as a RHR. It would be more cocktail vs. classic. So size plus the color I just don't think will work. I still want to keep the tourmaline though as it is stunning even if it doesn't work for this exact project.

And setting won't be done till the fall earliest. So this is more for some ideas. :((

Jeff never disappoints and I can absolutely understand why you'd save up and wait for that piece of perfection. Beautiful.

I love all the settings you've chosen. I think my fave would be the first you posted, but I'd make sure you have the finger coverage across your finger (the width) without losing some of the design. I also think you should not give up on your art deco dream - test it out, it may fit right in with platinum or white gold!

Yay, Sarah!!! I love me some bling and that is some of the finest I've seen! Thanks for shaking the board out of its reverie of late!

Wow! What a beautiful stone!!
I love all the settings that you are deciding between.. maybe the middle one with the thin pave band the best? Only because I just love Blake Lively's ring and it reminds me of it. However.. the other two choices are fabulous too. What a fun dilemma!!! :D

Awww thanks Minos! Is it bad that I'm already talking to Jeff about another project? I really want a pale pale yellow sapphire in a very similar EC. If you have seen my posting on RT you will know it is for another art deco ring. I think that is why I'm leaning towards doing a trap/bullet/ setting with this tourmaline. The yellow sapphire ring will eat up a bunch of my budget and I dont' want 2 art deco EC's ring IYKWIM. But I'm still thinking about it. I used to have a smaller asscher set in bullets and I thought everything but the size was perfect. I think I really might be having a change of heart and want to do a classic 3 stone. Oh the choices!!!!! As I get closer to the fall when I'm "allowed" to have a bling budget again I will post for some setting help.

YUM YUM, that's GORGEOUS :lickout: . I just love Jeff's work and he is so nice to work with. Congratulations on your purchase!
Can't wait to see how you set it.

That pink is just luscious! Sort of a dusty rose colour rather than a bubblegum. I love it.

If you wanted an art deco feel but without the elaborate halo, perhaps something like this with elongated diamonds on the side?

Thanks! I actually do really like that setting but I'm worried I won't have enought finger real estate with the tourmaline plus 4 side stones. I'm starting to think I will have to do something minimal or else it will be super uncomfortable to wear. :nono:

Thanks Mom2boys- I'm starting to think traps are the way to go. When I set this in the fall I will definitely ask Victor for a quote. It will be so bizarre to request something that isn't haloed or covered in pave from him

He's doing a non-pave, non-halo piece for me currently so I definitely think he can do a simple, yet elegant piece for you that lets your stone be the center of attention!

Re: 5.33 ct Antique Emerald Cut by Jeff White Pink Tourmalin

Stunning stone and I've always loved the first setting so I would pick that one.

Re: 5.33 ct Antique Emerald Cut by Jeff White Pink Tourmalin

Sarahbear,
I would seriously wait until you receive the tourmaline before deciding on the setting. It is much paler in the hand shot and if it looks like that, you can totally swing it in your original Art Deco setting without it looking out of place. Please, please reconsider. :halo:

I promise Chrono! I have a deal going on with DH that I will wait till the follow to set this and 2 other stones. I have jumped into projects and not loved the outcomes and then sold them. I have found if I sit on it for awhile then I figure out exactly what I want to do and those have become my forever pieces. Plus if I sit on it for awhile I can have a larger setting budget. :P

This works for me as well. When I take the time to let it stew, I end up getting exactly what I love and will enjoy wearing it for years to come. Yes, it does help boost up the setting budget in the mean time too. It isn't uncommon for me to leave my stones unset for several years until the right inspiration strikes.

That stone is jaw-dropping gorgeous Sarah!!! My mouth was literally hanging open looking at the photos. I love the classic jbeg setting in the first picture but also think an art deco setting would be fabulous. I can't wait to see more of this lovely!!!
