Thanks Mom2boys- I'm starting to think traps are the way to go. When I set this in the fall I will definitely ask Victor for a quote. It will be so bizarre to request something that isn't haloed or covered in pave from him

He's doing a non-pave, non-halo piece for me currently so I definitely think he can do a simple, yet elegant piece for you that lets your stone be the center of attention!

Oh new projects! I'm totally intriqued as I'm guessing this is why you sold your Emilya and 5 stone from VC!!!!! It must be stunning!

It's stunning!!!!

While I like the original inspiration pic best, I too wouldn't be able to wear a halo that big on a stone that big, haha. I like traps and bullets for it... or that delicious setting that InToTheMystic posted.

I love the first setting you posted, as well as the one Niel posted with the bezeled baguette sidestones.

What does the art deco setting look like that you were considering going with?

I know I'm a bad PSer!!!! It did come on Friday PJ when we were out to lunch! I haven't even had a chance to take any photos because of the holiday we have been on the run with the kids trying to keep them out of the house.

I promise I will have photos up and running tomorrow!

I will add a note that it is not nearly as bubblegum pink (yes my technical term) as Jeff's shots showed.

Gee whiz, you could have at least told us it arrived and your first impression of it. I thought it'll look a touch paler, similar to the picture of the tourmaline on the leaf. How "off" is it? Is it a keeper? Do you think the colour is suited to your original Art Deco inspiration ring now?

Ok so here are some photos of the tormaline. Honestly it is a tad more violet/ purple then Jeff's pictures and it is also just a shade lighter which I actually really like. Any dark area in the gemstone is my black camera and black shirt. I took about 50 pictures but non really came out

This is definitely a keeper though. I love the color of it. Very saturated and because of the touch of purple it feels dramatic and moody to me.

Chrono- So I'm sort of at a bypass with the setting. I adore the color which is well suited for my first art deco ring that I wanted to remake with this. However because of the size and depth of the EC it would require the halo to sit up rather high. I'm nervous instead of a beautiful art deco halo I will get a flying saucer instead. The other issue is the 3 stone ring with the trapz sides is really growing on me. At some point when I get serious about setting this bad boy I will ask someone to do some photoshopping for me which I think will at least help me decide which avenue I want to go down. Then I will work it out with the designer/ vendor, but we have many moons till we hit that point unforunately.

ugh my pictures are coming out darker then I thought though you do see the touch of purple/ violet.

Here is Jeff's leaf picture again which the tourmaline which I think is the true to life color I see but a tad less pink.
