This is for minous (and anyone else who is interested of course)- just received this from my neighbor at the beach. She is so funny! I thought you might want to see what they are doing at our place. Still so much devastation all around. Many of our neighbors are putting in new bulkheads/breakwalls but there are still many who aren't doing anything (money issues I guess) and that is worrisome. But anyway, for your enjoyment...(watch with the sound on).

It's coming along. Just taking a long time. Our men are freezing their you know whats off...poor guys! They cannot work once the weather goes below a certain temp because the concrete won't set or something like that and that is why they are working today because next week is going to be way too cold!

Yay!!! That's more progress than I expected to see! How are you all coming on your deck? Towards the end of the video when she looked to the right, was that your property?

Hi minous, our deck is almost done. Except for the edges and columns and some exacting fine work that still needs to be finished on it. The guys are cutting stone right now and doing that part of the yard. The last part of the video was my neighbor to my right(who took the video) joking about her neighbors to her right who haven't yet started doing anything and they really need to get their bulkhead fixed before the next storm/noreaster. Their whole yard including their pool just caved in when Sandy hit. Ugh, what a mess.

Let's see if I can post a pic of the yard in progress:
(sorry the second photo is sideways-I don't know how to fix it but it gives you an idea...this is the pic my neighbor took this AM).

It is all too easy to forget that those affected by the storm are still trying to put their lives back the way it was. Your pictures are a stark reminder of that.

So true. There is still so much damage all up and down the shore. So many people are still not back in their homes and there really is devastation everywhere you look down there as well as other places (LI, SI, parts of Brooklyn, downtown Manhattan). I sure wish the wheels of politics spun a bit faster for those most affected. I wish we could all fast forward to when everything is sort of back to normal but I know that will take years. Many years probably. It does make me feel so wasteful/frivolous/bad even talking about upgrade/ER setting change etc. but it does take my mind off things as well so it's a good diversion.

If there is anyone who is deserving of an upgrade, under the circumstances, it seems to be...uh...ding, ding, ding: You!!\

And how awesome that you've made that much progress on your house in such a short time! Talk about taking control. Yay! :appl: :appl:

Awww minous, you are too kind. I am not sure that I am deserving of an upgrade but that is so lovely of you to say so. Big hugs to you!
And thank you re the progress on the house. It has been about 8(?) weeks since the men started but it is coming along.
