900 vs. 950 Platinum

Is there a discernable color differnce between 900 and 950 platinum? Thanks for any info.

The short answer is no.

The common pt alloys are quite grouped together as you can see below (triangles). You can read more about the patina platinum takes on as it's worn in the article linked above. Of course it can be repolished almost without limit to restore its original whiteness and shine.

I actually had read your article and the info on the differences between the alloys was very interesting. I still wasn''t sure, however, whether there was a noticeable color difference. Thanks very much for the info and the quick response!

Oh, and the patina is one of the reasons I chose platinum for my engagement and wedding rings. I actually couldn't wait until the shine "wore off." Maybe that makes me weird?!?!
