Another picture in the plastic sheeth box with my husband's iphone SE. My phone sux, but this still doesn't capture the rainbow sparkles (red, blue, yellow flashes). This is in artificial light. When I get it set, I'll add some more pics. It has this metallic green color that I see in some diamonds. I love it!!

I love minty tsavorite and tourmaline too, but they don't quite have that luster or fire.

Well this is just divine, @T L! I love that you chose rose gold... the warm pink hue perfectly compliments and contrasts against the cool green of the garnet. Congrats and enjoy!!

There's an amazing cut demantoid on IG, with a vivid slightly bluish green that is reminiscent of Colombian emerald:

There's no information on where it's from, but that is one of the most stunning cut demantoids I've ever seen.

Holy cow! Thanks for sharing.
I wonder if the strong blue modifier is due to reflections of objects/walls, or a cool tinted light.
I'm not an expert but I have never seen such a bluish demantoid in a darker tone.
If it's Russian, it could be old mine, top quality material from the Tagil mine which a Russian dealer told me can be chrome green with a blue tint.

OMG:kiss2::kiss2::kiss2: This is the first time I have seen demantoid like this. All of the bluish green demantoid I ve seen come with lighter tone

Nevermind, I see in the post he claims it's from a new deposit but won't mention origin. Exciting.

There are no horsetails in this new demantoid which suggests to me that it may be skarn-hosted.

Both Namibia and Russia have bluish green stones. I can’t open the Instagram link you shared, but I’ve seen both Russian and African material like that hue, but the tone is pretty dark. I suspect Russian origin, and maybe it’s the new Polar (Siberian) deposit??? The stones I have seen from there are bluish green.

Here’s a similar looking demantoid to the one that was posted.

To me, the other one is more impressive, but I also prefer darker ones.
Here's another screenshot.

That’s beautiful. Very rare material. It reminds me of the 11 carat beauty I saw at the Smithsonian, although photos fail to capture the color. Some Russian deposits are more yellowish, and some are more bluish. Some are bright neon green.

Yet I still have a feeling if you place a top color, duck neck green emerald next to it, the emerald would win.

It's gorgeous, T L! I love the milgrain detail... such a simple addition enriches the design by leaps and bounds. Did you use diamonds or moissanite here to halo the stone?

Gorgeous!!! Who did the setting?

Thank you!! It’s an Etsy seller, SparkJewelryStudio. The side stones are moissanite, but visually indistinguishable from diamonds. It’s 10k rose gold.

Thank you!! Moissanite, but I wear it next to my diamonds and they look identical.

I think you're really smart to use moissanite, actually. I am not personally a big diamond person anyway (well, except for FCD's, but I digress). So you have all the bling of diamonds without the cost, and you can put the savings into your next CS. Very cool. And a beautiful result!!

Thank you! That’s why I also do 10k as well. Gold prices are nuts. I was just at the gem show, and they wanted so much for 14k settings, Crazy!! If you add real diamond melee, the price gets nuts. I do cz as well, but I really love the luster and bling of moissanite.

It really does look just as beautiful! It seems more and more folks are turning to moissanite for their engagement rings. Not only is it a Mohs 9.25, which I'm sure you already know, but it also has an impressive toughness rating of 7.6 PSI. So you could break concrete for a living and not damage those things. CZ is a Mohs 8, which is still great, but its toughness is considerably lower at 2.4 PSI. It really shouldn't matter with normal wear though. Have you ever heard of, or experienced, CZ becoming cloudy with age? I remember reading that the material was supposedly oxygen deficient, and so it absorbs O2 from the atmosphere, which is what clouds it. I have no idea how true that is. I suspect CZ has quality grades just like any other stone, natural, simulant, or otherwise. Anyway... sorry for the tangent... loving your new pretty!!

Thanks again!!

CZ does indeed come in grades. The old stuff and some cheaply made material will cloud up. However, not the stones from Signity (a high quality cz manufacturer). Swarovski uses their stones in some of its jewelry. Most large and well known high quality cz jewelers use Signity stones.

Moissanite can sometimes stain. It’s referred to as an “oil slick” since that’s what it looks like in appearance. A little silver polish will remove it. In larger stones, it might be more discernible from diamond, because it’s doubly refractive. It also has more fire, which can also throw some eyes off. However, in melee sizes, it’s a perfect imposter!

Beautiful stone!

But gotta say that I saw that eye-popping "rough" before I read your caption :lol-2:
