I really wasn''t looking I swear, but when I came across this on Richard''s site I just HAD to write him

It''s the most fun stone I''ve ever seen! Color is not quite as dark as it''s showing in the photos, it''s more "airy" for the lack of better words.

Even though I have no budget for it, I NEED to set this baby so I can wear it! I would love to do a ring even though that''s probably not the best idea. I am very gentle with my ring though and it certainly won''t be a every day ring. Any thoughts? If I do decide to go with a ring, what sort of setting will look nice with a stone like this?

On my hand. It''s a very nice size too.

It''s difficult to capture the dimensions of this cut, how the "petals" are layered. This is definitely one of my favorites so far!

And just so she doesn''t feel left out, my latest little baby - a little spinel

A little more red than I expected (it''s impossible to get that perfect pink huh?) but is a little sparkler none the less!

That is so AMAZING!!! I have no idea how you''d go about setting that! Hmmmmm. Wow. Did I say Wow already? Because WOW.

Oh Babyblue033, it''s GORGEOUS and huge! And the color. Wow. It will be an amazing ring. And I''m with you on finding the perfect pink. I''ve settled on finding many pinks

but my wallet doesn''t like my strategy.

An interesting stone indeed! Regarding the setting, it probably doesen''t need a custom setting (translation: I''m assuming it''s not THAT expensive), so something with 6 prongs might do the trick - 4 on the tips and 2 in the grooves. Due to the size, color and value of the stone I''d probably go with a silver setting, cause a golden one would either be too expensive or too thin (fragile, weightless...). Or if you want some jeweller to commit suicide you can ask him to bezel it

That made me laugh.

ETA: It would look cool though, LOL.

OMG I LOVE that stone - how incredibly beautiful

What a gorgeous and oh so cool stone! I love it.

Beautiful, beautiful stones, babyblue. When I look at that blue flower topaz, I think of it in the center of a handmade flower pin or pendant. I''ve kind of got a combo pendant/brooch on my mind lately, because I''m thinking of it for one of my current projects. I wouldn''t rush to set it. It needs a very special setting. So gorgeous.

And that spinel is yummy. I

your taste.

Cool flower! And I love your spinel!

BOTH stones are AWESOME!!!!

That flower is STUNNING! Is it bad that I wish I would have had one to wear in my hair at my wedding?

I mostly just lurk in colored stones, but I had to pop out and say that look amazing. It's so vibrant that it looks (for lack of a better word) unreal in your pictures. Like someone to a fab pic of it in perfect lighting then photoshopped it into a picture on your hand. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but I don't know how else to describe it. Haha. Maybe I should just say I can't remember seeing a stone look that pretty in a non-professional picture in a long time! It has a light of its own.

I have no idea for a setting ... but whatever you do will look gorgeous. If it were mine, I'd go with a very simple pendant or a ring.

I almost choked on my lunch!

Then I thought to myself "Do I like my jeweler?"

I was thinking about a very simple prong set solitaire, but I keep coming back to the beautiful (but out of budget!) WF Legato ring
14.gif
Just something about it makes sense with this particular stone. But that''ll be a bigger project than I''m hoping for...

I think a pendant will set off the stone the best, but I feel like I just don''t enjoy the pendant as much. That''s how I feel about my other garnet pendant. I love it but it''s not as fun as rings where I can gaze at it whenever I want
2.gif
But I''m still considering all options and looking at Etsy for some inspirations

I wouldn''t have thought of that, but it would make a beautiful "something blue"!

Most stones are difficult to photograph and to capture its real beauty, but this one actually photographs better than it looks in real life!
5.gif
Don''t get me wrong, it''s beautiful in person and in a way these photos really AREN''T capturing its true beauty, just not *quite* as intense in color. It really is an interesting stone in many ways

BTW, a pendant is really what this stone is made for (like most other stones with complicated outlines), but if you want a ring, you want a ring

WOW! I think it needs a sister, and I think its sister needs to live on my neck.

Funny you should say that, because the stones I saw on Richard''s site was actually a pair. He said the pair was already sold but he had this single one due to its match not working out and I really wasn''t looking for a pair anyway. I did laugh to myself at the thought of these big bubblies on my ears
