Thank you, Marvel! Your username is actually the name of the street on which I bought my first house - 2222 Marvel Road.

The main areas of the house (living room, kicthen, dining room, nook, and master bedroom) are all khaki, as well as the ceilings. We have double stage crown moulding so it really works well.

I don''t have any pictures, but my husband''s office is green, and our media room is a dark brown.

Thanks, Dee*Jay! You live in Chicago, right? I''d be happy to come up there for a little decorating.

Too funny! My username is the first three characters of my first name, Maria, and the first three characters of my last name, Vel**. Although, I suppose it''s possible that a street was named after me

Anywho, it''s the khaki color I have my eye on. I may have to use your house as my inspiration. Do you know which brand was used?

love it!
reminds me that i need to get off my butt and post pics of my new pad too!
not to mention decorate

Could be!

Hmmm, I''m not entirely sure. The home was built by Ryland Homes, and the exact colour is called Crisp Khaki. I just googled a bit, and found a "crisp khaki" from pretty much every paint company, but the one that looks closest is the Benjamin Moore Crisp Khaki.

Yes, please post pics of your house. I was inspired by Metro''s posting of the house she was trying to buy, and decided I was done holding out on ya''ll.

I already have a backlog of diamond studs, right hand rings, and an eternity band I need to post.

Eek, I''m such a terrible PS''er.

Thank you!

Wow, gorgeous home. I love the brick accents, dark wood, and spacious rooms.

wow-It's a beautiful house-I adore it! Hope you have many happy times in it!

Lauren--

I love your house....I ahve to ask....is it a Ryland home? I only ask because my FI and I just bought a Ryland home and the floorplan looks very similar to yours. Ours is about 2100 sq feet patio home and we have very similar kitchens only mine has an island in the center. Anyway, i was just curious and if yours is a Ryland home I am so excited to see what mine will look like when it''s done.

Thank you KCoursolle.

Luckily, my husband and I have very similar tastes, and picking options was a blast. I do wish we had selected the large ceramic floor tile for our guest bathroom laid diagonally on the shower stall instead of those small 6" shiny tiles. Oh, well. You live and learn.

We plan on adding different counters/sinks/fixtures in our master bath sometime next year.

No way! Do you live here in Dallas?

Ours is a Ryalnd Home - the Hickory in the Villa Series here in DFW.

Yours is 2,100 sq. ft. with an island - it''s not the Teakwood, is it????

No my model is the Alder (2150 sq ft to be exact) and we paid a little extra to put in the island and expand the kitchen so the island would fit. And yes! I am in the DFW area!!! This is so exciting. AND I love your hardwood floors. We were going to go with Cherrywood but then decided on dark maple cabinets and hardwood on the bottom floor and carpet and tile on the second (if only we could have afforded the whole house). We move in mid October and I am so excited to paint and decorate.

How have you like Ryland''s service, etc so far????

We are sooooo going to have to talk.

The Alder is a newer model that they haven''t yet built in our development (I''m in Legacy Villas). I keep forgetting, it''s not the upside down floorplan, is it?

My sister and her boyfriend are building an Oakton out in Allen, on this gorgeous lot that backs up to the green belt - and is across from the Townhomes'' pool. They should be done around October, too.

I''ve loved Ryland''s service - we actually bought our house at Legacy rather than Ridgeview just because of our sales guy - he bent over backwards for us. We got an incredible deal, lots of incentives toward our options, closing costs paid, and a point paid by the CFO of Ryland because of a miscommunication on our lender''s end. We also had Ryland paint, because there was no way I was going to be able to reach those 20'' ceilings - and I''m lazy.
2.gif

Also, when we signed the contract, I had them insert a clause that if we weren''t happy with any aspect of financing or build quality, we could walk away with our earnest money - no questions asked. That, combined with our closing date of December 22nd, helped us to get everything we asked Ryland mortgage for.

Where are you guys building?

This is weird - it''s posting me as an Anonymous user?

OK, I think I''m back.

Blondie23 - both of those Anonymous posts were me. Weird.

I''m in the Ridgeview villas!!! It is the upside down floor plan but we also changed it so that the master and all bedrooms were upstairs and moved the loft to the first floor and turned it in to a study. I wasn''t a fan of the sales person at ridgeview either so we ended up using the sales person out of Suncreek Villas....she was fantastic. We also got amazing deals on all of our options....they covered all of our closing costs, and we so easy to work with because I changed the floor plan a lot. I''m also having them paint all the walls that are 20'' high...like you, I was not about to do that. We chose a tan type color and will figure out how else I want to decorate when we move in October.

I just feel so lucky cause never in a million years would I ahve thought that i would be able to have hardwood floors, granite, amazing tile, etc in my first home. So far I ahve no complaints about Ryland but they are still in the early stages of building.

Oh, duh! I was thinking of the Birch when I was talking about the upside-down floorplan.

That's perfect, it sounds lovely - how did you convince Ryland to change the model so much? They were soooo anti-change when we asked for a few changes in ours, but really, the Hickory was already the perfect floorplan for us since we wanted the larger garage.

Ridgeview is a great, growing area, and a fantastic location. We were so tempted, but the Legacy location was so much better for my husband's and my commute to work - and now that we will be working so close to each other in Addison - we can carpool! Yay!

I'm with you on how nice the homes are for the money - though I paid my dues and bought a 40 year old home in Irving in 2001. I've been spoiled though, that house had hardwoods and SS appliances, as well.

Are you working with Ryland on the mortgage? Or are you going with someone else?

We were able to change the plan because my sales girls kicked a%%...haha, no really. She did all the talking with the builders for us. I think she just really wanted to sell it and was willing to bend over to do it.

we''re going with ryland on the mortgage but i''m still not sure if we should go with ryland for homeowner''s insurance...any thoughts?

since this is my first home I feel so incredibly overwhelmed...i never really realized how stressful buying a home really is...ahhhhhhh

not to mention that i still have a wedding to plan.....ahhhhh

very pretty house, Lauren! Congratulations!

I think the woman you worked with at Suncreek is the same chick my sister and her b/f are working with. She does, indeed, kick booty.

I would shop around for insurance - Ryland quoted us somewhere near $1,100, but I have Liberty Mutual, with both of our cars and our motorcycle, and my engagement ring, and it's only $719/year.

Just wait til you get to the final closing stages. We were incredibly lucky to get our financing done, but we wanted to close a week before the end of the year, and because we had some issues with hurrying the process along, we almost just walked away. I was so irritated with my lendor, that I threatened to take my money and run - and at one point during the settlement stage, I was 100% serious.

Who are you working with at Ryland? Please don't say Tom Huff. . .
