Apparently, one of the reasons "pure" yellows are tough to find is that the range of pure yellow in the visible spectrum is quite narrow. So while there are many types or mixes of "pure" blue, say, there are not as many types or mixes of pure yellow. So you are very likely to find some green or orange in your yellow (and if you mix these, I think your eye might detect a color none of us like very much).
