If anything, I see it more as you calling them out for their mistake and helping the customer get what he wanted. I don''t see it as a "protection" whatsoever.

Ditto.

Nope. Don''t see any favoritism there.
You''d do the same if it were any other vendors who post on here.

If pointing out that they "screwed" up can be construed as protecting them...

PS Pink Floyd was by far the best band I''ve seen in concert! (Division Bell 1994)

I really appreciated that in this thread you called WF out to say ''just admit it, you screwed up.'' I didn''t appear to me that the posts were any attempt to protect WF.

What astonished me is that the ps admin posted a comment that defended WF and indicated that they had forwarded the picture to WF to obtain customer assistance for the newbie...

i remember that thread. you certainly did NOT defend them. as a matter of fact, you pointed out other issues that did not pertain to the original problem.

i am constantly amazed and quite saddened by the paranoid conspiracy theories that are brought out to try and defame others.

Well... Okay first of all I thought that everything that PS said was not only appropriate, but good. You''ve invested a lot of time in this forum, and creating it to be a place where people can *trust* their vendors can only be a GOOD thing for everyone involved.

As for an attempt to protect whiteflash - I thought the best protection WF got was from itself in the humble nature of John''s posts. I think consumers have a right to truthful information about the performance of the vendors who post on PS. The desire to make things right by WF MORE than makes up for any fumble they may have had IMO. That speaks *strongly* for me. Very strongly. Flaws aside, I would definitely do my business with them... but not so much based on anything that has been said about them, more just the committment they seem to have regarding customer satisfaction. Speaks volumes for itself.

In reading that thread I read about the 10,000 post thing and thought, well I can do that... maybe I *shouldn''t* shut up LOL! (or maybe they''d give me a discount *to* shut up! bahahahaha!) And like in any situation where you have a member formed group, there will be differences in opinion on everything. Nothing''s perfect, but I daresay that you two (I think it''s two of you - I really know nothing about you other than that someone has taken time to make me pictures of my ring and I think that''s very sweet!)

So... I think you''re sane, but your head very well may have already exploded and you might already be on the dark side of the moon ;)

well... if it''s any consolation, this is the only forum that I post on regarding diamonds. I have no desire to look elsewhere. I also feel like I should mostly stick with rocky talky and diamond issues rather than to get too sucked into the dark side of this particular moon. Yeah, gossip sucks. Rudeness sucks. I came here for a reason and the quality of the result has far exceeded any expectation I had. The people who post here are quite largely very nice, smart, even wise people. The diversity is amazing and I really enjoy a lot of the posters. It''s true a few bad apples can spoil the pie, but I think they are outnumbered. I hope all of this conflict gets resolved for you... I''m sure another one is around the corner LOL Best of luck!

We also hoped so. However, there are other opinions.

E.g. we just got an email stated that people here are too nice and therefore dishonest. The author prefers forums where one can write "you look like a whale in that dress", or where members' pictures can be a subject of ridicule and posted along with pictures of piggy character, etc.

I agree that being too supportive while thinking otherwise is not good but why one cannot be critical and honest in a polite manner without being nasty or rude?

We hope that those members who don't like a ring or a dress simply do not comment.

"What is truth?"

AMEN.

If I wanted to be in a forum where I had to read "Oh. My. God. Becky, look at her butt. It's just SO big,..." (some of you will know where the song goes from there...!!)...........I would GO BACK to high school.
20.gif
Tsk tsk to those people, I say!!! Just because I'm not rude doesn't mean I'm a liar!!!
11.gif

ETA: Wait, am I rude??

Don''t despair! I''m not suprised folks more familiar with/hardened by IMO more "mean-spirited" forums such as The Knot or Urban Baby etc ...find the atmosphere here disconcerting. People remain where they feel comfortable. If they''re not comfortable here...I, for one, say: oh well.

FYI -- Anyone looking for places to post "piggy" pictures & generally despicable, disgusting stuff need look no further than Craigslist "Rants". Anonyblog is another terrifying example of what happens when people are left unmoderated.
32.gif
14.gif

Gosh, isn't it just amazing that people will go to extraordinary lengths to hurt someone they have never met?
20.gif

There are always going to be liars and sour grapes and those who wish to take no responsibility for their own actions and instead point the finger and cry to others. There are always going to be those that listen to those people and believe their stories. Quite sad really. I mean who REALLY wants to hang out with a bunch of bitter sourpusses?

I pride myself on never having been a sheep or someone who blindly follows anyone else, it's a shame that others cannot say the same about their lives. It's also a shame that sometimes people just have nothing better to do with their time online than spread lies, gossip and slander...seriously...get a real online life!
5.gif
I may be a bitch sometimes, but at least I can say that I spend my online time assisting others rather than just gossiping behind the scenes. Where's that Yahoo! loser face when you need it?
3.gif

Leonid and Irina, I think most of us are very happy with the home you have made for us here on PS. You know what they say....imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

Unfortunately there are quite a number of people in this world who get some sort of a high from dogging and ragging on others.
I guess somehow putting down others make them feel good. And don''t get me started on those who loves to instigate heated arguments.

Fortunately for this forum, we got some of the best moderators who are very efficient and on top of things when it comes to
nipping those troublemakers at the butt.

I''ve been a long time reader of this forum.
The reason I love reading everyone''s post is because I like reading some of the wise and unbiased advices from posters from various demographic.

THANK YOU for maintaining this forum.

Having been here off and on for a couple of years, I will just say that I can recall several very nasty anti-WF threads that dragged on far longer than they would have had there been some conspiracy to protect them.
20.gif

Makes no sense to me... You got involved (which is somewhat unusual -- is this their complaint?) but you weren''t protecting or defending WF. You took the side of the consumer.

Who knows what motivates peoples reactions....

I didn''t come here to be made fun of or have rude comments made toward me, regardless of how "honest" someone might be to engage that part of themselves. I think there is a vast chasm between being honest and being rude. I''ve seen nothing here that tells me anyone here is not honest, even if they remain polite and civil. In fact I prefer it - keep up the good work!

Also... don''t get me started down the philosophical trail of "truth" or even "Truth" LOL! But seriously, I agree with you... always good to keep your mouth shut if you have nothing productive to say or you can''t figure on how to say it politely and constructively. When I got here I didn''t like marquise diamonds, but I''ve since seen some settings that made me *really* like them. I can find something I like in just about everything, even if it''s not the choice *I* would make. Why put someone down for having a different personality or different tastes or different opinions?

Hi:

By this logic--and I use that term loosely--there is significant added value in openly insulting people. How so? Ends justify the means? Regardless whether you are addressing someone F2F or in a virtual environment, there is not, nor ever has been a place for name calling or derrogatory character references in civilized conversation.
JMHO.

For one, I do not envy the moderators job!! Thanks for providing the opportunity to be a part of a civilized community.

cheers--Sharon

I couldn''t agree more. Life is too short to listen to people spewing venom, or being rude and vulgar. I enjoy my time here as it is a civilized place where I can help others and learn from the experts as well. I love the sense of community here. Leonid and Irina keep up the good work!!!

Anyone can misconstrue and manipulate information to his or her own personal benefit. I read no bias in your posts, only a personal expectation for Whiteflash to take ownership of a mistake, which was done.

I don''t envy your job, but I do like your choice in music, (as does my 12 year old son)

I''m still around so they aren''t too well protected cuz its got pretty nasty at times.
Bad enough that some folks think I hate WF which isn''t the case we just disagree pretty strongly from time to time :}

Leonid and Irina aren''t perfect but they do as good a job as humanly possible in sometimes impossible situations.

Just caught this thread, and no, what was written in the other thread cannot be misconstrued as protecting WF. I honestly thought that John Quixote might have taken a defensive stand since you called him out on the mistake. Glad to see that didn''t happen.

As for people who feel that they should be allowed to make rude comments...there''s a time and place for everything, and to make a rude comment about someone''s picture just to be mean is just plain......well, mean. What''s the purpose in that? Does it make them feel better about themselves?

From Wikipedia: Conspiracy Theory

Features

Allegations exhibiting several of the following features are candidates for classification as conspiracy theories. Confidence in such classification improves the more such features are exhibited:

  1. Initiated on the basis of limited, partial or circumstantial evidence;
    Conceived in reaction to media reports and images, as opposed to, for example, thorough knowledge of the relevant forensic evidence.
  2. Addresses an event or process that has broad historical or emotional impact;
    Seeks to interpret a phenomenon which has near-universal interest and emotional significance, a story that may thus be of some compelling interest to a wide audience.
  3. Reduces morally complex social phenomena to simple, immoral actions;
    Impersonal, institutional processes, especially errors and oversights, interpreted as malign, consciously intended and designed by immoral individuals.
  4. Personifies complex social phenomena as powerful individual conspirators;
    Related to (3) but distinct from it, deduces the existence of powerful individual conspirators from the 'impossibility' that a chain of events lacked direction by a person.
  5. Allots superhuman talents or resources to conspirators;
    May require conspirators to possess unique discipline, unrepentant resolve, advanced or unknown technology, uncommon psychological insight, historical foresight, unlimited resources, etc.
  6. Key steps in argument rely on inductive, not deductive reasoning;
    Inductive steps are mistaken to bear as much confidence as deductive ones.
  7. Appeals to 'common sense';
    Common sense steps substitute for the more robust, academically respectable methodologies available for investigating sociological and scientific phenomena.
  8. Exhibits well-established logical and methodological fallacies;
    Formal and informal logical fallacies are readily identifiable among the key steps of the argument.
  9. Is produced and circulated by 'outsiders', often anonymous, and generally lacking peer review;
    Story originates with a person who lacks any insider contact or knowledge, and enjoys popularity among persons who lack critical (especially technical) knowledge.
  10. Is upheld by persons with demonstrably false conceptions of relevant science;
    At least some of the story's believers believe it on the basis of a mistaken grasp of elementary scientific facts.
  11. Enjoys zero credibility in expert communities;
    Academics and professionals tend to ignore the story, treating it as too frivolous to invest their time and risk their personal authority in disproving
    .
  12. Rebuttals provided by experts are ignored or accommodated through elaborate new twists in the narrative;
    When experts do
    respond to the story with critical new evidence, the conspiracy is elaborated (sometimes to a spectacular degree) to discount the new evidence, often incorporating the rebuttal as a part of the conspiracy.
  13. The conspiracy is claimed to involve just about anybody;
    Conspiracy tales grow in the telling, and can swell to world-spanning proportions. As the adherents struggle to explain counter-arguments, the conspiracy grows even more (see preceding item). Conspiracy theories that have been around for a few decades typically encompass the whole world and huge portions of history.
  14. The conspiracy centers on the "usual suspects";
    Classical conspiracy theories feature people, groups or organizations that are discriminated against in the culture where the story is told. Jews and foreigners are a common target. Likewise, organizations with a bad or colorful reputation feature prominently, such as the Templars, the Nazis and just about any secret service. (In our case it is "Russian Mafia", "KGB", and "Gestapo")

I think something much more nefarious may be going on, and Pricescope is trying to turn our attention to their behavior towards WF. Maybe it is something else. I read something about money changing hands. I read something about Ana/Valeria taking a vacation. I see that during the thread in question, Ana posted, and then, she has ceased to post.

Irina, Leonid, what have you done with that girl!? (You say she took a vacation, but is she on hands & knees, cleaning your floor, kept prisoner?) Tell the truth, this has nothing to do with WF, I''ll bet.

btw, like other posters, I hope you''ll keep up the good work. Tell Ana she missed a spot.

That girl is fine, Ira, changing status and we are in private communication how to accommodate her. Though we are sure there are many verrry curious members around, some things are private and we respect that and ask others to do the same.

Other vendors - not WF decided it's ok to use a PS consumer for business purposes (which was brought to our attention by Val herself) and it's not how it works here.
