Greetings, this is my first post on this forum. I am planning on getting engaged soon, however I am not having much luck tracking down a diamond Im looking for a round brilliant, 1.36-1.5 ct F/G VS2/SI1 in the $9000 range. A jeweler recently sent me the data for a 1.42 G Si1 ex ex ex stone certified by HRD. The specs are below. I have only seen GIA certified diamonds so far so I'm a little hesitant about HRD since the prices are so much lower. I'm wondering if they are not as strict as GIA. Anyway, any advice is much appreciated as to how this stone may compare to a GIA certified. Here are the specs... thank you everyone.

There is a reason any stone is priced the way it is.

I once called in a 3ct HRD that was easily 5k lower than other GIA & AGS stones of the same specs - I thought hey, what could it hurt, maybe I'd get lucky on the one that slipped through?

Well, I didn't get lucky, and I threw away a few hundred on the shipping.

The primary market knows what it's doing - reality is that you're not going to get a "deal" buying a new diamond unless a friend is doing you a favour ;))

HRD has a good rep in Europe, but I suspect the crop is different in the US, for whatever reason.
