@MakiMan are you open to considering non-WF branded cuts? I bet our PS Rock Hunters Extraordinaire could find you some more (well cut) options in your budget and size range from other vendors
Should I buy a D-G 0.82-0.84 Carat diamond or a J 1.00 Carat one?
My budget for the stone is $5500 (pre-tax).
I will be spending an additional $1000 in the simple solitaire 2.2mm setting in 18k rose gold
Update:
The Whiteflash salesperson suggested this alternative:
1.067 I SI1 $6,049
Diamond | 1.067 ct I SI1 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Round Cut Loose Diamond AGS Certified | 4483273
This Whiteflash A CUT ABOVE® super ideal cut hearts and arrows 1.067 carat I color SI1 clarity loose diamond is graded by the American Gem Society (AGS) Laboratories. | 4483273www.whiteflash.com
So now the final decision is between that one and
0.907 H Si1 $6,004.
Diamond | 0.907 ct H SI1 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Round Cut Loose Diamond AGS Certified | 4531069
This Whiteflash A CUT ABOVE® super ideal cut hearts and arrows 0.907 carat H color SI1 clarity loose diamond is graded by the American Gem Society (AGS) Laboratories. | 4531069www.whiteflash.com
The bias is toward the larger one, but I am wary of how much stone quality (to the degree that is noticeable) I might be sacrificing. Seems that getting 0.15 extra carats for a drop in color in color is a good deal, but is that the whole picture?
Thanks again for all the support. I promise to post pictures.

That's a photo of a 1.19ct GIA G in the ring vs. a 1.6ct high J loose. That G was colorless like water. I ended up buying that G instead of the larger J. If a person is at all color sensitive, the I range is going to look more ivory white than bright white. The J will look pale yellow. I have diamonds from D down to M in modern RB cut and truthfully, I like them all. There have been a few people on here who bought a good sized L color ideal RB or asscher cut and were happy. L and M will always be in the pale yellow range in any lighting, though.
My caution about tint is that it might kind of "intensify" with time after you've trained yourself to see it. This center in this halo ring is a .8something 6.3mm OEC that was graded I color by an appraiser, and it also has strong blue fluorescence. I honestly owned it from 1993 and never ever noticed the ivory tint in the stone until after I'd been on PS a year or so in 2005 and started to scrutinize my diamonds much more closely. Once seen, that ivory color can't be unseen, haha, but it doesn't bother me. Nor does it look buttery or yellow. It's just a little creamy. You can see that creaminess in some of these pics. But anyplace there is UV light, this faces up bright white. The tint is still there in the side view, though.
thank you for the comments! you have beautiful pieces! I ended up deciding for the I at 1.06 carats. I will post pictures once I get it
