Advice on 4ct oval diamond ring

I know someone said to not go below a G, which would be my preference, but I’ve also heard from other people that if it’s cut really well you could do an H, or even and I. I know the common response is that you have to see it in person” to know the true color, but buying anything online makes it impossible to see in person unless we purchase and then return (which we are open to).

How does everyone feel about this option: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/4.00-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-sku-8112484
It’s an 4ct, H color, SI1 from James Allen, and my understanding is that James Allen has a good return policy.

This stone will act more like the G you posted above. I think you need to decide which "look" you like the most. Mostly small twinkles (lots of virtual
facets like the "I" you posted or some small twinkles and some big flashes like the "G" you posted.

Just wanted to show you a stone that has a lower ratio but has more primary facets (vs virtual facets) reflecting light. They are fatter and dont have
the longer ratio that most people like in an oval. Some people prefer fatter ovals to get the better light return. Somewhat of a trade-off of size vs better light
return. Notice as the stone turns you see well-defined facets returning light. Very little mushy gray area. It would be nice if you could find a longer stone
with this kind of light return but they are hard to come by.

Interesting, so are you saying the G isn’t necessarily flat and it just doesn’t “twinkle” like the I colored video I posted because it has larger primary facets?

For your kind of budget I would use Jonathan who is currently helping James Allen customers free of charge. I would text or call him. He is very quick at responding.

I just reached out to him today!

Not a fan of that H color. Really shows on this stone. For some reason the cut is not very defined. Lots of mush.
