Hello PS-ers

I am, of course, a long time lurker, first time poster. I have gained so much from reading the PS forums and have found it invaluable in choosing our engagement stone (we were engaged last week :D )

The stone has now arrived in Australia, and I believe all the analysis (as listed below) points to a good stone - but the reference to the "table off 28.6%" I do not understand and cant find any info on it (apologise if it is already on the forum somewhere.)

The specs are as follows:
Weight: 1.36 ct (GIA, E colour, Ex, VG, SI1)
L/W: 1.554
Total Depth: 59.1%
Crown Angle: 34.1
Crown Height: 13%
Pavillion Angle: 40.5
Pavillion Depth: 42.9%
Table Size: 59.7%
Girdle thickness: 3.2%
Table off: 28.6%
Culet off: 0.1%

Are any PS-er out there able to give me their honest opinion on the stone and shed some light on the 'table off percentage?"

Thanks SO MUCH in advance :-)

My best guess is that it means that the table is off-center. It's an unusually exact percentage (I'm betting on computer imagining, which, fancy!) but I'm guessing that if you look at the stone horizontally to your eye, you'll probably find that the table is either not level, or that it veers off to one side or another of the diameter of the stone- either could fit that description.

Thanks so much for your reply Circe - as you said, it is a very specific calculation and 28.6% is a significant percentage.

I have been assured that the stone is eye clean (but maybe table symmetery is not taken into account) and the GIA cert ranks its symmetry as Very Good.

Do any pear experts out there know if this will be noticable to the naked eye? Would people not buy this stone based on this?

Thanks again.

What is the GIA report number so we can look it up.

So that is a scan by the vendor?

Any ASET/IS image? That will tell more. Or a full sarin scan instead of the average numbers.

Off center table could be good but case by case and just giving the % offset is useless.

Hi guys

Thanks so much again for the responses.

I received an email from the vendor last night letting me know that the sarin software wasnt updated and was giving an incorrect reading - and therefore to ignore the 'table off' percentage.

I have attached the ASET image for review and opinions, I have been advised there is minimal bowtie and I know not to expect a lot of "red" in a pear's ASET.

The magnified picture showing the twining wisps and the GIA are also attached.

We have had our heart set on this stone for my engagement ring and now it is in the country we just feel so nervous about such a big purchase - any feedback would be enormously appreciated.

Yes, the Sarin is definitely off. GIA symmetry grade is "very good," which is good enough.

Advice on a Pear stone - updated with pics, open for comment

Hi all

Since the table off % panic was actually an error, I'm now just open to any opinions about the stone :-) All comments welcome :-)

Thanks all!

I'm no expert but it looks nice to me! Love the shape, it's a cute lil' thing ::)

video?

This is from Jogiadiamonds right?

Mrs. Clark -It's really a pretty stone. The videos look good and I think the color is great.

Thanks Anne and to everyone who replied :-)
