AGL Report vs. GIA Report - Different Grading Results

The other big problem I have with GIA reports is that no one individual signs it, unlike AGL. At least if there is some mistake on either report (AGL or GIA), you know who is accountable.

Yes, the Ruby is indeed 3.348 carats!
It were only a typing error, instead of 3.348 (3.34) carats it were typed wrong = 3.-48 carats. :)

Well, that's good news BUT why doesn't AGL have checks in place for this sort of thing?????

At least you have an answer now so that's a relief.

Good question ...

By the way, I got this answer from GIA regarding the Oil Treatment:
"As for the treatment comment, when we tested the stone we did not find enough foreign material within the fractures to warrant a treatment call. We did test for treatment and did not find enough callable treatment."

Although AGL's error is seemingly minor, it is disconcerting that something similar has happened before to me. When the vendor sent my cobalt spinel to AGL for proof of it being cobalt bearing, it came back with incorrect measurements. I had to call AGL and get them to re-issue me a new and corrected memo.

Hmh ... that's actually a problem.
Because if a gemstone doesn't got a Report from any other Lab, and the carat and measurements are typed wrong from for example AGL or GIA a person wouldn't know what they're actually buying ...

I discovered this error when the mass produced setting I purchased was too small for the stone. It was 1 mm larger in both width and length than stated in the memo. The carat weight stated was correct.

Yes, I understand that one.
If purchasing a semi-mount online and the gemstone doesn't fit, returning the semi-mount and so on ..
Just unnecessary expenses!

I dont remember but I think you were the one who proposed me to ask GIA to get back the money.
Whatsoever, they will not give any refund or do anything for free.
They would only update my Report for free but I had to pay shipping cost.
So I'd rather throw the GIA Report than pay an extra of $140.00 for shipping fees.
