Your new stone is gorgeous

Kudos to Jon for making this happen for you!!

For those that are interested, I''ve done a comparison of my 1.25 H&A RB to this 1.08 OMC..
these are the closest photos I could find, and I tried to make it a fair representation..
tbh, I''m not seeing much difference in size in pics...I guess that makes sense, although I''m
not sure what I lost in surface area. Any math whizzes feel like having a go?
5.gif
I believe the
RB was just under 7mm dia, I can look it up..

So, I''ve commented on appearance, ct size, and colour comparisons..

As to clarity, they are both SI1; but my RB did have some ever so tiny carbon spots under
the table. And the OMC''s grade maker is a white feather right off to the side (only visible under loupe),
so I think I lucked out in that category too!

If there are any folks out there who have specific questions on the comparison of the two stones,
please do ask, I''m happy to give my thoughts..(Ellen..?

AJ, your new stone will look perfect with your vinatge Art Carved wedding band. Please take some photos of them together. I think this pair was meant to be!

Your ring is to die for beautiful !!!

I seriously just gasped! Your ring takes my breath away! Every time I scrolled down I just was in heaven!!!!

This was the perfect way to start my morning, thank you

Congratulations on this amazing stone, and it looks perfect in the setting you chose.

May I ask what camera you were using?

Hey Lgirl,
of course - its a Sony DSC T200, just a middle-range point and shoot..It''s been superceded I believe now,
and was a b''day gift from my folks maybe 2yrs ago. I was really hesitant originally about getting a Sony camera, as I thought I should go for a Canon or the like, yanno?. But it''s proved an absolute pleasure to use - and the touch screen is very user friendly and lotsa fun. I''ve mainly used it for macro (jewellery! lol), but it works really well for landscapes and action too. I''m looking forward to being able to take it on hols
for a proper test drive sometime soon.

Thankyou!

here''s the newly titled Indra (thankyou Loz

Hey GG,
thankyou for your kind comments. I agree, the diamond and that band will go really well together.
Alas, that AC ring is a couple sizes too big for my ring finger - but just for you,
I will take some pics anyway
2.gif

tbh, the Legato doesn''t fit great with the band (the ering needs something *very* low profile in
order to sit neatly), however my JM bezel fits perfectly with the vintage band.

So, one day, if I decide to have Jim make a setting for the OMC, I may have him resize the AC band
as my permanent set. Whaddya think? I''m not sure I''d trust anyone but Jim to touch it!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! AJ, that cushion is BEYOND stunnning!!! I''m so happy Jon was able to make this happen for you, and I''m so impressed with that gorgeous stone!

Congratulations!!!!!!

tee hee Deco...
I know, can you believe how I made off in this transaction? Even though it
is a real downgrade, and priced accordingly, I don''t feel like I''ve lost out at all.
Jon is the freakin best!

There is really something to be said for a business who can
help out a customer like GOG did for me, esp. in today''s cut-throat economy, kwim?
I will always be appreciative and very fond of my time chatting with and learning everything from Jon -
if (when) I get to NY, hopping over to visit GOG will be one of the first things on my list

There doesn''t seem to be right Loz..?

Here''s a more "real life" perpective shot...
Be honest, as my opinion is clearly pretty skewed
2.gif
..but personally I would''ve thought
a 1ct fancy to look a lil smaller on the hand..what do you think?

I think it looks "just right"..(of course, tee hee)..

here''s one of the behind for those folks not as familiar with this setting..

AJ,
I’ll do the math for you. The RB is 7 mm, right? What about the new OMC?
I had to come back to look again; it looks so much like mine that I keep thinking what’s she doing wearing my ring?

It’s gorgeous…just beautiful!

And, I know it''s a lil bit self indulgent, but I''m gonna sign off (for now
2.gif
), with some
of my fave pics.
Really, its just because they are the closest to what I see in daily wear - no other way to describe
it but a mini rainbow! (And fyi, I was wearing a black jacket too whilst taking these)..

Just crazy performance on these diamonds - Jon would be well advised to slap that patent on quick smart imho!

Really, really spectacular. You really shouldn''t call this a downgrade...it''s so lovely that even though it''s a tiny bit smaller it''s really that much more fabulous. Congrats!

Sparkly Libra and Lozza,

on the name front (you gals are funny), I''m thinking an incantation of rainbow?

How about in Hindi, indradhanuṣa - we could call her Nusa? Or Indra?

Actually, that''d be a pretty daughter''s name, Indra...may have to write that one down, lol..
9.gif

eta: as per Wiki ''In Hindu mythology, the rainbow is called ''Indradhanush'', meaning the bow of Indra, the God of lightning, thunder and rain.''

pretty fancy name for a ring, rofl..
3.gif

I like Indra too! Well if you pick Indra, can Peachy be her middle name? I think she deserves a first, middle and last name, lol! Please more pics!

And WOWZA she faces up WAY bigger than 1ct!

Hey C,
thanks hon, clearly math is not my specialty
41.gif

To be specific, the RB is
Width6.97mm
Length: 6.98mm
Depth: 4.26mm

And OMC is
5.89mm width
6.32mm length
3.93 depth.

I find it interesting that my OMC is actually more shallow than the ideal cut, don''t you? Seeing
as cushions are usually viewed as taking a hit on depth..

Oh wow, that is one stunning stone. It looks perfect on your hand, and I absolutely love it in that setting. I too think the size difference is negligible--the shape and brightness of the new stone make it stand out more on the hand. Also, I LOVE the color...the M is just perfect! Congratulations!!

Thankyou all to the very kind members who have left lovely compliments -
it''s almost 1am here and I''m totally bushed, so I will have to get back with ya''ll
tomorrow

I was already so happy on how this turned out as soon as I opened that lil box..but seeing how much the PS community agrees that I made the right decision, is also a really fantastic bonus.

G''night all, thankyou!!

I know its a *little* different but it reminds me so much of Boston Jeff''s Leon ... which is a PRICESCOPE CLASSIC. It has the same *feel* for me ... the same aesthetic elegance and drop dead pastel faceting light show.

SQUEEEEEEElightful!

Here you go:
Face up surface area of RB: 38.19 mm square
Face up surface area of OMC: 37.22 mm square
It looks like the difference is very tiny, only 1 mm square, which I attribute to the roundedness of the RB and pokey corners of the OMC. I guess it would make sense that the OMC would be shallower because it has less carat weight too? Well, I’m not complaining about how much shallower these OMCs are compared to the true OMC antiques that can have up to 80% depths!

This is GOG''s signature Old Mine Cushions: www.goodoldgold.com
Go to the diamond search and click the box for OMCs to find what''s left in his inventory.

Hi Joelly,
yes of course. And neither have I!
Basically Jonathan from Good Old Gold, after years of having clients request for him
to find antique chunky style cushions (which are often needles in a haystack), he decided
to develop his own design and start having them specially cut.
So, they have the appearance of an old world vintage diamond, but with performance and optics
which are much tighter and stronger - you could say to rival the performance of a modern H&A, etc..the result was the Signature GOG Old Mine Cushion, or OMC

here''s a link to the current selection of available diamonds.

And if you go to Vimeo , you can view a bunch of videos Jon has made with various OMC''s, comparing them to other cuts, etc..

Jff, here''s the vid of my one vid

Pls let me know if you have any other queries..
