Wow! That is seriuosly one gorgeous ring! Your "downgrade" seems more like an upgrade. These stones seem like they have such character. It almost makes me want to trade my stone in. Congratulations!

Honestly, by far this is the most beautiful stone I''ve ever seen in this forum. But I''ve only been here a little over a year. So I could be wrong.

I love this stone so much. Even thinking of getting one myself.
31.gif

WOW! its gorgeous...I think its just as big as your old 1.25 RB

ah, you guys are all the best!
I''m so glad everyone enjoyed the pics - honestly, this diamond has just won me over
completely. Even wearing it now, in dim afternoon light inside, it is flashing colours and sparkling
as I type - very distracting!

Cheers D&T!

Hi Michelle, cheers for your compliments. It is really impressive how they
seem to perform well regardless of surroundings, and mine is extremely easy to photo. Although I must say, indirect or as Jon says "ambient" sunlight is really where they *shine*

..GOG do indeed Rock!

Ha ha, cheers jet. TBH, that is the way I am starting to feel about it too, which
of course is very comforting.

SWOON!!!
30.gif

That is one gorgeous cushion! And it reminds me a lot of my own chunky baby.
2.gif

What I want to know is, wher the h-e-double-hockey-sticks was GOG when I spent months and months trying to find an antique-style stone?!?!
3.gif
Oh, well, at least now I know where to go for an upgrade!

Wear that beauty in good health! The great thing about chunky cushions is that they are always coming up with new tricks.

Hello fatafelice,
yes yours is one of the diamonds I have often admired on here, you have nothing to regret!
Although I agree, this is such a cool thing that now folks who adore that chunky cushion appearance
can choose their specs and have one custom cut, instead of searching for weeks or months like yourself, and perhaps having to compromise on one or more specs.
5.gif

Yes, I am quickly learning how this diamond never seems to look the same - heaps of fun! Thanks hon
35.gif

I''ll post a couple more pics to keep things interesting.

That''s okay, I''ll make do with my pet rocks for now
2.gif
Hope you liked the new piccies!

Thankyou legra, on both counts.

rofl, Deco - yup, no violence or threats, I promise! Just Jon doing a sincerely nice
thing for us. Yeah, I''m actually really glad I didn''t change the setting just yet, so maybe
the no replies from CM were a lil bit of fate, lol..thanks hon!

Hey LG, thankyou for your kind compliments, I''m glad you enjoyed the pics.

Thankyou Marian!

AJ, it''s a beautiful beautiful stone, and I love the description of the color - vintage lace, although I''ve got to say, no one would ever believe that she''s an M. And using your old Legato setting? I think it looks perfect and to tell you the truth? I don''t know that I''d ever take her out of that mounting. The scallops on the sides of the Legato just lends itself to the antique-y nature of the cut and color of your stone. That stone actually looks like it belongs in that mounting. I think she''s home!

I just had a bout of Carlin-esque humor run through my head (''ya know ''jumbo shrimp'', ''military intelligence?) LOL! You have a new antique! Quite an oxymoron but absolutely true. It''s gorgeous. Wear it in the best of health and happiness.

Just a word about the times we''ve been living in.... Honey, you don''t have to explain to anyone. Some of us, my house included, were hit very hard by the downturn on our economy that started at the end of last summer, and truth be told, I sold a small mountain of gold jewelry and my husband sold a load of tackle on Ebay to make some extra money for us. But we do what we have to do for our households to be OK. You didn''t downgrade, you just changed the shape of your stone and who knows? My guess is in years to come, you''ll be growing that diamond to a larger size. Don''t think of this in a negative way. You''ve got one gorgeous new rock on your finger! That''s just my two cents
2.gif
.

More photos please!

Hey there GG,
I must say a big thanks for all your contributions in my other thread, your advice always clicks
with me and I appreciate the time and thought you put into your replies.
I agree about the mounting - I think we were all a lil surprised when it fit so well with minimum fuss,
so I took that as a sign to roll with it
2.gif

I''m sorry to hear that you had to sell some things and you''ve been hit hard.
Many folks say where I am that they think we''ve escaped a true recession - it''s not as bad as
for the US, but unemployment has been pretty bad, which of course makes looking for a new job a bit sucky. I applied for a simple local admin position recently where they said they had over 100 replies in one week!
I know I don''t need to explain, but most of the folks I chat to often on here already knew about the
job thing, so I didn''t want to dance around the issue is all.
1.gif

At the end of the day, if it meant improving things for us at home and in our r''ship, I would''ve sold back the diamond no worries, I know whats most important to me. So with this result, I''m just on cloud nine as it''s like a real bonus to what I expected going into the decision, kwim? Oh don''t worry, I don''t feel negative at all, infact this ring feels more "me" than the last one.

...I won''t say never on growing it in the future, but that''s something for the distant future, lol..!
5.gif

I don''t want to jinx it by spilling just yet, but a really good oppurtunity has come my way this past week..I''ll know by the end of July if this story has an (even more) happy ending - and I may just put in first request for PS dust

Here you go:
Face up surface area of RB: 38.19 mm square
Face up surface area of OMC: 37.22 mm square

It looks like the difference is very tiny, only 1 mm square, which I attribute to the roundedness of the RB and pokey corners of the OMC. I guess it would make sense that the OMC would be shallower because it has less carat weight too? Well, I’m not complaining about how much shallower these OMCs are compared to the true OMC antiques that can have up to 80% depths!
AJ,
In case you missed my Math on page 3.

what a stunning stone AJ - I am assuming your original ER diamond came from GOG? Just confirming. I tried to find a photo of your original ring but I don''t think I came across it. Only one that was a three stone setting, so I''m sure I''ve missed a bit of your story. Anyhow, again it''s a beautiful diamond and I hope you''re enjoying it. Lovely lovely.

Congratulations!!!

It''s absolutely, possitively breathtaking!!!!!

well aj. saw your thread go non-linear over the last 24 hours and i can''t say i''m surprised. any ring that included one of those ABSOLUTELY STUNNING new GOG stones was always gonna be the hot ticket viewing item on these boards. because.....

IT''S GORGEOUS.

holy mother of bling, girl - it''s unbelievable. i looked at it and i....

couldnt

quite

breathe....

i love it. and you are one lucky woman to own it.

y''know, my husband ordered me a small pair of BGD studs yesterday. i love them for all sorts of reasons, but most of all because, years from now, i know i''m gonna be able to say ''i own BRIAN GAVIN diamond earrings.'' some pieces of jewelry are special and we all know it. years from now, when people are comparing rings, you''re going to be able to say "i own one of the GOG signature cut cushions..." and people in the know will go "ooooooohhhhhh!"

congratulations, you lucky, lucky woman!

ARJUNA!!!

Well ... if you ever come to the States you have a photography gig with us.

Your photography of these really makes it look surreal and expresses yet another facet of their beauty. (pun intended)
10.gif

My entire team expresses their heartfelt thanks for your kind words.

We are so honored to see a long standing client and friend share in our excitement for what I believe are the the most beautifully cut, traditional/antique faceted cushions in the world. The vision of these have been in my mind for a long time and it gives me no greater joy than to hear of how much you are enjoying it.
5.gif

I am currently trying to decide on a mens ring for myself with one of these in it.
9.gif

And ... glad to hear about the positive prospects for you in Oz too. Please keep us posted.

Warm regards,
Jonathan

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow!!!!! Did I say W

I can''t believe that''s a downgrade!!! Maybe in weight but not in beauty!
Cheers to GOG for helping you out so much! So great to hear.

I think I love the yellow flower shots the best.
Congrats to you!

Honestly? I have never, ever, seen a diamond that has literally stopped me in my tracks and given me that "I HAVE to have one of those" moments. Your diamond is THE most beautiful diamond I''ve ever seen. The facets, the colour, the simplicity of design just shrieks pure class. Oh AJ, you are one lucky woman and despite your rocky year, you''ve got the most gorgeous ring to see you through the tough times.

Very many congratulations.

I think that is one of the most beautiful rings I have ever seen. Congrats!
