I received a few unexpected presents from my 80+ year old grandma today. She loves collecting jadeite (and has some pieces from the 60s and 70s), but I am embarrassed to admit that I still know very little about jadeite. She said that this is Burma jadeite, but that's all I know. I don't think these are particularly valuable pieces (except for sentimental value).

Hi, Thanks! It is unique and much prettier in person.
Jadeite is harder but brittle (Crack easily), Nephrite easier to scratch but it is tougher and stronger.

This is my first post on this site so "Hello" to everyone reading this post.
This morning I was browing a Chinese Jadeite forum site then a thought caught me. How other people think of jade apart from asian? So I found this site using a search engine and here I am reading this wonderful post.

About 15 years ago, when jade was not so expensive, my family got 2 pendants from a friend as gifts and one is a Budda guanyinthe other smiling Budda.





About 1 month ago I bought myself a really beautiful pendant and as a compensation, my wife a jade leaf

I don't think I've shared my jadeite on this thread before. (I checked, and couldn't find it.) It's untreated (type A), with a size of 11.6 x 7.9 mm, 3.23 carats.
