Someone calls and after 2 min they say, wait I have another call *click*.
I just hang up.
Am I rude?

Nope, as I would do the same.

DK :))

No.

That said, not everyone is adept at the mechanics of putting a call on hold to accept another call — raising my hand here. I’m always worried that the second caller will be impatient and hang up, so I might not offer the appropriate excuses to the person I’m talking with. This is especially true if the incoming call is from a bank or a doctor’s office, or some other business in which case it might be very hard to get in contact with that person again if I initiate a return call.

So please feel free to hang up, but do so without prejudice.

I think if they say, "would you minding holding for a minute because a call I need to take is coming" then you can either say, "no, just call me back" or you can say "sure". That's how I would do it.

But if they just say " wait, I have another call" then I think it's fine if you hang up or you could say, "no, call me back".

nope Karl
from the years ive been on PS i would say you are a very polite and all around nice person, not in the least bit rude

i remember talking to my cousin who was doing her OE in the UK back when phone calls were like $5 a minute and she did that too me,
it was like 30 plus years ago -yet i still remember it

I would have said sorry I cannot hold we can talk another time and then hung up.
If you had the chance to say anything before they said they have another call.

No it's not rude IMO. It's rude of them if they did that without hearing/waiting to hear your reply. That is ask you if you could hold.

Nope! I would have done the same! When I was younger I wouldn’t but then I’d gripe about it! I’m just older and grizzlier now. I don’t have time for that crap. They can call me back if they need me, that is even if I pick up at all! I’m notorious for not picking up calls.

On a personal call, not rude at all....but be grateful you don't have to try to juggle two clients.......that's a really tough issue.
Add to it that I have to answer all the calls, even when it says "spam call"....because I've had real clients' calls be flagged like that......
What really burns me is when I hang up with a client- or friend- and the incoming call is about my car's warrantee......sheesh

Probably not. Some exceptions would be if the caller has some issues. For example, Ill/elderly family members or a job in which missing a call is a big problem for them.

I said maybe - it depends on your relationship to the person you were on the phone with

No. To start, first call takes priority. Anyone calling during that first call receives a voice message that lets them know I'm already on a different call. Common sense dictates that the second person will hang up and wait patiently for me to call them. That applies to clients as well. What is considered rude is for that second person to just stay on the line and cause my phone to keep beeping in my ear.

The only time I'm taking an interrupting call is when I know to expect it and I know it's important (waiting for a courier, to hear back from a doctor, that sort of stuff). In that case I warn the person I'm talking with at the very beginning of our conversation that I might need to end the call abruptly and then call them back.

To be having a conversation with someone and then to just decide to take a second incoming call just because you want to, that's what's rude. And yes, I would hang up as well. My time is more valuable to me than your time.
