American Institute of Gemological Research (AIGR) ??

Are there anyone who knows of the American Institute of Gemological Research (AIGR) ? I consider buying a Kashmir sapphire from kashmirblue, which have a certificate from this institute, so I would like to know if it is a trustworthy lab?

I personnaly never have used this lab and it is nothing like AGTA , GIA or even AGL that are very reputed labs. (that does not means it's a bad lab, just that, beeing in trade, I almost don't know it... but I'm French).

About the certificates, I don't like at all the "consistent with...".
That's the way you state when the client comes and tells you it is from Kashmir and you have no indication it is NOT from Kashmir.
I mean that there are a lot of ways to say gemmological observations suggest, proove (rare), state with 90% probability, rather than saying that they do not disproove.

When I personnaly use this "gemmological data are consistent with my belief" it is usually to say that I am personnaly convinced of something, that a lab wouldn't state that on paper but told me it was possible or probable.
Typicaly I regularly sell sapphires from Burma, but for which my usual lab won't give an opinion on origin because there are too few datas, I would state to the client that I believe that origin is Burma, datas are consistent but nothing prooves it.

He he he...funny they should also be on Pricesope. I don''t know much about the more unusal certificates either.
Well perhaps the people at Kashmireblue will allow you to have an item your interested in looked at by a third person

I purchased a Kashmir sapphire from "Kashmire Blue" with an AIGR cert. My local appraiser(well respected GIA G.G.) verified the cert. info. I am planning to purchase more from" Kashmir Blue".
