Amethyst from Art Cut Gems

I picked up a nice 3+ carat Zambian amethyst from Art Cut Gems. It's a nice 9x11mm size and a really lovely purple.

Maybe I'm getting confused (which I get these days due to my advancing age ) but I thought the Zambian amethyst was mined out long ago?

Chrono, as far as I know amethyst mining is still pretty active in Zambia.

I think he must have meant the really fine material as everything I've read says that they're still taking tons of amethyst out of Zambia still. I don't think my amethyst is as nice as TL's in that thread you listed.

I just love your zambian amethyst. I recently bought one myself over 3 cts and it also has the blue and red flashes. I love these stones. I haven't set mine, don't know when I will, but these are so reasonalbly priced. I think TL even said , this is an under valued stone.

Gorgeous stone, kismet! Purple is one of my favorite colors and I'm hoping to find an amethyst sometime in the future. This one is very pretty!

As for setting plans, I had no idea until I came across an antique setting with a 9x11 garnet surrounded by omc diamonds. Now I'm thinking it might look better with an amethyst in it.
