another Kindle question

Wow, that shipping is SUPER fast!

I brought my Kindle to work today to show my reading and writing students. Most of them are reluctant readers, and most of them went GA GA over the Kindle.

I wish I could list "Kindle" as my required textbook--the gadget aspect alone seems to be enough to make them want to read. They were genuinely excited about it.

that's so awesome, haven! they would love having the kindle as required textbook i bet; if only schools had loads of extra money hanging around, huh?

I just made my first kindle cover, from scratch, using a pattern I made myself! :appl:

It's a little like the first pancake of the morning, but any time you make something for the first time, AND are winging a pattern while you do it, things are bound to be a little lumpy in places, right? Right? :errrr:

I haven't put the pouch in to hold the kindle yet, because the light is poor and my sewing machine had a hysterical freak out, but the cover itself is done, I just have to permanently affix the clasp (that's why it's not stuck down all the way): http://picasaweb.google.com/117835371441848440572/KindleCover?authkey=Gv1sRgCL_u_sPfko2fgQE#

I bought the chipboard at Hobbylobby and the fabric was what I had kicking around. The mash-up of japanese-themed fabric and chinese-themed closure is grating on me a bit, but it's what I had on hand.

galateia, that is awesome!! i love the closure. you are quite talented :) thanks for posting it!!
