Hi all,

Was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for places where I could find lots of pics of antique style settings? I would like one to suit my 0.81ct oval diamond so it should highlight the stone rather than take over it if you get what I mean.

Thanks :D

Anyone? It doesn't need to be for an oval shape specifically. Open to suggestions

I stepped on the screen of the laptop that had all my links that would've been helpful. So basically this is just what I can remember off the top of my head.

I'd wade through ebay a bit (if we're just talking about you browsing for setting inspiration) probably by looking first by category and then by keyword search to sidestep the zillions of brand new "antique style" settings that come up anytime you search.

So here's what I can pull from memory for ya. Bear in mind this is a list for *eyecandy purposes* not places I'm reccing for actually purchasing from, which is what I think you were looking for? I've added a bit of info on which are actually good for shopping at too, just in case I'm not understanding properly, lol (always a chance of that before my coffee is finished!)

http://www.JewelsbyEricaGrace.com has quite a lot of sold listings up still, that include antique settings. http://www.AntiqueEngagementRings.com has a mix of new and repro settings up- their repros are often cast from originals, so they're good repros in terms of actual style IMO. http://www.FayCullen.com I would avoid; if you do browse it, keep in mind that their stuff is 99% new and misleadingly labeled, which annoys me to no end. http://www.LangAntiques.comhas *awesome* eyecandy and I drool over their stuff on a regular basis, horrifically overpriced however but gorgeous pictures of almost entirely genuine antique pieces, and the repro ones are clearly labeled as such. http://www.WannaBuyAWatch.com has some great examples of antique settings and repros, which are labeled clearly. http://www.NewYorkEstateJewelry.com (Israel Rose) also has great eyecandy. http://www.RauAntiques.comtoo, some actual antique Golconda diamonds to drool over usually, which is neat, and great high-res pics.

For modern antique style settings, the best is [urlhttp://www.]VanCraeynest.com[/url] in terms of using actual historically accurate production techniques like die striking and piercing/chasing. Super premium and priced as such. Beverly K is a designer- Pearlman's carries their line- that does very affordable antique style settings, and for the price I think the quality is great. Erm. I'm sure there's a zillion I'm forgetting! Hope that helps for a start.
