Hi all, I have this brooch and I'm sending it to DK to add 2 bails so I can wear it as a necklace. It's over 7 grams, 2.4 ct, set in silver and gold. Should I get a white gold or platinum necklace or use this yellow gold one? How heavy should my necklace be? I almost lost some pendants because I added too many on a thin chain, so I'm paranoid now. TIA!

I'd lean towards white gold......

OK peeps, white gold or platinum? What is cheaper and holds more?

Unplated white gold

It’s a stunning brooch! I’d wear it with a white gold chain. Although current gold chain makes the look have a very Chanel/Versace/Westwood vibe. Which is great!

White metal would be my preference personally.

Is the brooch pin removable as in the piece is a convertible piece, as it looks like it could be unscrewed from the brooch?

Just being curious, that's all, TIA.

DK :))

@dk168 it needs the bale. I tried to disamble it but I was not very successful

Lift up the pin stem, raise the curved wire handle vertical on the back of the brooch and turn it counter clockwise. It ought to easily unscrew after a few turns and come off. Then you should be able to remove the entire pin, joint and catch. Using the same mounting threaded a bale can be connected to the center of the pin's back and be removed to use the brooch both ways, pin or pendant.
