Anxious to get the engagement ring

yeah.. won't it be nice to actually be able to start planning a wedding.. instead of pseudoplanning and feeling silly cuz you're not actually engaged? I can't WAIT.. especially since I want a wedding next July!

I don't remember all the specs offhand, but I can give you the major ones:

It's a three stone ring with an emerald center and brilliant trapezoid sidestones.

The emerald is .79ct G VVS1. The depth is in the 67-69 range and the table is in the 65-68 range. (I think). The lw ratio is 1.4:1

The side traps are .53ct total, F color. It will all be set in white gold.


It was hard to find a stone with the ratio I wanted. Everyone told us ideal was around1.3, and that's what they tended to have. But there is no ideal emerald cut and my preference was for a more rectangular stone.

I too am awaiting my ring. DF has already purchased the diamond and he and I visited the jeweler today to get the engagement ring custom made. It will be a solitaire 1.20 "J" SI1 Ideal with a "U" shape head in a double-prong mounting. Also, it will have a small surprise diamond on each side of the head. We were engaged in February and that's when I got my "first" engagement ring which we later found contained a poor quality diamond plus it was white gold and yellowed easily, at least on me. We returned that ring to the B&M jeweler in May and now in about three weeks, I should have my new engagement ring! By the way, we also ordered our wedding bands which will both be eternity rings with 8 diamonds evenly spaced around the ring. DF was adamant in ensuring that our wedding bands were identical...even to the point of making sure that we had the same number of diamonds. The only difference is that his are larger because he has a Size 12 finger!

it seems like it might be even worse HAVING a ring and then having to give it up.. (even if it was to get a better more beautiful one). I hope you are enjoying your wedding planning! I can't wait to start!!

Let me know what you think of your setting "in person." The prices of the settings from Affinity seem very reasonable and I just love a pave one that they have. I would love to hear how the quality is.

For those of you who have heard my wailing over my situation, I'm still impatiently waiting for my e-ring. Timing has been really bad this summer with all of the family emergencies and such... Not his fault but I'm impatiently waiting.

Although it might have taken 3 weeks (which was this past Tuesday), it looks like it will at least take the full 4 weeks - which sets it to arrive next week...maybe?? Regardless of what day it comes, I've been informed that he has something planned so that I will have some suprise. Who knows "when" that will be...but I hope he will not torture me for too long! I try not to think about it - but it's impossible..especially because I have an addiction to this site.

There are some other issues that are uncontrollable to us that could turn all our plans upside down though. Unfortunately we just have to sit back and see what happens.

Ahhhh! Ok, we must remain calm

We bought the diamond loose in May, and last week went to the jewellers to have the ring designed (platinum half bezel knife edge setting), it will apparently be ready in two weeks, so that's about 9 days away now! I won't know when its ready as the jeweller will contact my boyfriend directly, and because my bf knows that I know it's supposed to be ready in a week or so, I don't think he'll propose for a while yet, as he wants it to be a surprise...I've been trying reverse psychology on him, subtly talking about how I'm not expecting him to propose for a few more months, in the hope that he'll "surprise" me by proposing as soon as he gets the ring...not too positive it will work though...

As for me I'm still waiting. His parents and sister were in town all weekend so we were nice hosts and did all manner of touristy things, but there was no opportunity for any sort of proposal.

I can't wait to see your pictures. I can't wait to see everyone's pictures. And I really can't wait until I can post MY pictues. lol!
 
It will come.. I thought it would never happen and now we have sooo much to do. We want a winter wedding and we do not want to wait a year so this Feb it is. I live in New England so hopefully it will be a white wedding.

I can't wait to see Shana's pics.. I have been anxiously checking first thing in the morning every day.. LOL..I am living vicariously!

I REALLY can't wait to get my ring.. two weeks from the order date is TOMORROW. I doubt he will actually get it tomorrow. I am thinking that even if it only took two weeks, the earliest my boyfriend could have it is thursday, on which I am working ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT from about 10am til midnight.. but.. it might not even be in yet.. I may have another week or more to go.. I'm going a little nuts. I am going to a wedding with all my friends from college on the 21st.. I am REALLY hoping to have it by then.. I sort of gave my bf that as a "deadline" lol..

I'm only a LITTLE crazy

Our's should arrive this week as well - but I know he'll hold it - but until "when" I don't know! We've got so many events coming up in the near future and I would love to be engaged by them. Guys don't tend to consider these things sometimes

It's not a bad thing - it just makes it more exciting, because you know your friends will be asking tons of questions if you are not sporting the rock by then. Do you think your man has something planned? I know what you mean about checking the site and living vicariously through others...it's nice to at least experience a little of the others joy to get us by!

I was half raised in Ga. I was born in NYC, but moved to Ga when I was 13. I lived there through high school and went to colege at Ga State. I moved back up North (to Boston) with the (almost) fiance b/c he was accepted to a grad school program up here.

I can't decide if hearing/seeing these other girls get their rings makes me more excited about mine or more anxious!

Very cool - two totally different places, but both wonderful. I graduated from Kennesaw State, but took some of my classes at GSU because it was closer to home. We're actually considering moving to NYC/or PHilly as I want to go to Parsons for Graduate school.

Anyway, I know what you mean - the more I hear from the others, the more anxious I get...but the more excited I get as well. It's a tought spot - I could ignore it and not read this site, but what fun would that be?
