A comment recently made by Bertrand on another thread inspires me to ask:

Does anyone have any photographs of gemstones, (especially sapphs or rubies) before and then after heat treatment???

I''d love to see some!

Here is another from a fellow in Queensland, Australia - the photos are not very good but it gives you an idea of the difference in before and after treatment.

For cut stones: Supposed everything equal, unheated stones are brighter and have more luster than heated ones. People in the business with a trained eye are able to differenciate them.
