I''ve been looking at asschers for about six months now and am mesmerized by their sleek classy yet understated look. I''m wondering if those of you who own asschers wish you''d bought another cut and if so what would you get if given another choice?

All I can say to you is that it appeared you were WAY happier with the pink pear than any of the asschers. I understand doubt, but the right stone will walk you down the path kicking and screaming if it has to. Ask me how I know this ROFL!

Do you want one of each? Is it hard to choose because you love them all? all shapes? For a RHR I''d consider something with color... why not? What are you looking for when you want "big"? Something that covers your finger or something you can look into and be mesmerized? Sticking a halo on a stone wouldn''t have scratched my itch... I didn''t want a bigger looking ring I wanted big facets. What is it that YOU want?

Nope, I don''t regret having my asscher as my e-ring but I would LOVE to have other shapes in additional jewelry... lots of other jewelry
31.gif
I love that not many people have the shape and how I can look at it all day long and not get bored... not that I ever do that

I''ve been mezmerized by my Mom''s asscher since I was fifteen....I wear it everyday now, and still stare at it constantly. I can''t imagine anyone ever getting bored with their almost hypnotic appeal...

I do think there is a poster who traded in her asscher for something else, but I can''t remember who...

I guess one thing a person could regret about them is that they do face up quite small for their carat weight...but to me, it''s worth it..

HI Isaku-- I did have regrets. Because of the whole mm size thing. But... after the SF Bay Area GTG looking at REALLY large rounds I decided two things: One I would have been very happy with a 1.5 carat round in a Tiffany Replica setting-- but only one of that size in only that setting(Suberb Cert''s replica). Two: I would have been THRILLED with a 1.5 carat Asscher-- and it would have cost less than a round. Then I went to a local jeweler here and saw a 6 carat J colored Royal Asscher. Fell IN LOVE.

So I''ve accepted that I am indeed an Asscher girl. Although I definitely have DSS. The bigger the better. And yes, I want the 6 carat sucker. It was STUNNING. J color and all. \

So now.. do I have regrets that I have an asscher? No. It''s the size that bugs me. And hopefully the re-set will help that.

do you think it''s worth it in tiny asschers like .30?
My stone has a similar quality that draws you in to look at the facets, I''d love to spend a day with an asscher! A big one!! hehe

I don''t regret my asscher one bit. It is 1.6 carats - so it is a decent size. I''d like it to be a bit bigger...
20.gif

BUT - I love this cut. I''ve had my ering for 10 months now and I STILL stare at it. I just think that a well-cut asscher is such a thing of beauty.

I love the clean lines of the stone, the fire, and just, well, just about everything. And there are definitely down sides...small for the carat weight, tough to keep clean, no where near the sparkle of other stones...

But even knowing all that, I never really considered another type of cut.

Someone on here said you either LOVE asschers or you don''t. I am a lover for sure. If you are feeling conflicted about it, maybe it isn''t the right cut for you?

I think the patterns might be too hard to see in a stone that size, but could be wrong?? Never saw one that size before.

I think the fact that you are 1) attracted to several different looks other than the asscher look AND 2) want maximum finger coverage means that you should steer away from asschers, Isabel. In order to be truly happy with an asscher, you have to be able to be happy with the fact that you did not buy the most bling for the buck. So you have to either not care as much about the size/spread, or you have to have a sufficient budget to buy the exact "look" you are looking for.

I think you should count yourself lucky that you like lots of different styles and go with something that will satisfy your visual requirements, at the same time you are sticking to your budget. I know you are also sensitive to color/clarity, and you will be able to find a lower combination that will make you happy if you steer away form asschers.

Don''t get me wrong, I love them asschers, but as people keep saying to the heart broken ladies-in-waiting....

It shouldn''t have to be this hard.

Hi Isaku
35.gif

I''m only a bit familiar with your ring search, but I felt compelled to reply on seeing the thread title and the doubt it expresses. Whatever other people may think about asschers, I sense that you might have too much doubt about them to live with one happily.

I''m sure that there are people who regret buying asschers, but that doesn''t mean that asschers aren''t great, just that it hasn''t been great for them. It''s one thing to ask about downsides to asschers, but when someone is using words like regret, it might be time for a break!

This is just a personal opinion, but enthusiasm is essential for these big projects. The most beautiful rings on PS were put together with a great deal of enthusiasm and some decisive calls on where to compromise. I''ve come to admire not only the end result, but the grounded enthusiasm of the owners.

Whatever shape/combination which evokes the same enthusiasm in you may be the one to think about.

Isabel, I know finger coverage is important to you, and of course bling.

Have you considered something like Eva''s radiant? This thing seriously makes me swoon, and that is very hard to do....

(faints)

THUNK!!!!!

That is the most beautiful radiant and setting I have ever seen....

I think ANY girl that loves jewelry in general might on certain days wish for a different cut...maybe a cut that looks bigger, or one that it featured in InStyle Weddings or whatever Tiffany comes out with (i.e. Lucida and Legacy cut diamonds)
31.gif
...BUT, when it is all said and done, I wouldn''t change my asscher for a million bucks (okay, maybe a million
27.gif
)...

There are MANY downfalls to having an asscher!

1. They look smaller than some of their fellow mates...
2. They show color more than some of their fellow mates...
3. They show inclusions more than some of their fellow mates...
4. They show dirt so quick sometimes it is frustrating!

BUT some of the benefits are amazing!

1. They are sleek.
2. Timeless.
3. Understanded.
4. Unique.
5. And their cut is so yummy you could stare into it for hours....

AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT IS ALL ABOUT WHAT ONE PREFERS...

Just my 2cents

Isn''t it though?

It really really really is. That setting looks like it was MADE for the radiant. Beautiful.

Another reason to get an asscher is... you can tell snarky people they can "kiss your assch!" LOL.

Of COURSE I'm KIDDING - that would leave smudges on the table!

If my e-ring was a 3 stone princess Isaaku I would probably want something other than a square diamond for my RHR. A nice EC with a 1.5 ratio, a rectangular cushion, a fat gorgeous pear or an oval would be my picks. And as I love canary diamonds... I would want a canary. You love pink-- so I think you should just go with a vendor you trust, like GOG or Leon Mage, and ask them to find you the nicest light pink diamond for your budget in any of a number of shapes-- then send the diamond (if Leon doesn''t find it for you) to Leon for setting in a nice pave halo. You liked the pave halo of the pink pear after all. I would, however check to see if Leon will work with Rose Gold for parts of the setting. Plus you like BOLD. I think that a pink pave ring would be perfect... As Cehra pointed out you LOVED that pear ring and this asscher thing has been a PITA for you.

I have to admit that I was smitten with the pink pear set in a pave halo, but it wasn''t meant to be ( read..I couldn''t make it happen!).

I absolutely love Eva''s radiant and setting, but maybe because it''s huge!!!!! Huge and diamond make my eyes spin
26.gif

Despite the fact that it appears that I have an unlimited ring budget, it just isn''t the case. In fact, I have lowered the budget to about 25k from 35k. I should add that the reduction is self-imposed
20.gif
.

I do love different shapes and for a while was considering a cushion in a halo setting, but I always seem to come back to that love
30.gif
of great asschers.

So here''s where the situation stands as of tonight: I have ordered a 2.35c F VS1 X X asscher from James Allen who has offered it at a terrific price (well within the new budget). It has only one slight drawback- strong blue fluoresence which Jim has assured me has no negative impact on the stone. He also offers a 30 day money back guarantee.

To feed my pink cravings and add impact, I contacted Maytal and received a sketch from her which will incorporate pink diamonds in a pink gold halo. While the ring will look similar to qqq''s, I''m staying with a legacy-esque profile.

All in all, I''m really, really, really looking forward to the final dream ring!!!!!

I''ve seen asscher eternity bands and that recent tennis bracelet was that size I think! Asschers to me are a stone that almost has to be big - not that small ones aren''t pretty but just the bigger the better... I don''t feel that way about other shapes. The only asschers I''ve seen in *person* were in the 1-1.5 c range and they were okay but when I see the big ones or the closeups here I really like them. I like being able to see the facets of the stone.... when I was looknig at OMCs I saw some that were like 1/2 carat and I couldn''t see SQUAT so it did nothing for me
