I personally watched just to see the display of hats that always come out at British weddings. If I still lived in the UK my diamond fund would probably have gone to hats!

I agree...aren''t those hats a trip? That''s one British tradition I''m glad we didn''t bring with us to the colonies!

I thought her dress was stunning. Some young brides could taken a lesson from her: less is more!

Yes she looked radiant. I think she had no other choice but to go classic elegance.....she had to dodge the "mutton dressed as lamb" brigade as well as comparisons to Diana. She looked crisp!

I''m happy for them too. They obviously love each other.

No, it isn''t a radiant...

Since I did not see the wedding coverage on television, I looked for some pictures. I agree that Camilla looked beautiful!

I thought that jacket she wore to the blessing was amazing. I just loved the train effect. I was a little surprised and kind of "felt bad for them" having to apologize for adultery that way. It was really strange.

I want to see her wedding ring next to that sucker.

I liked both her outfits...though I did like the hat she wore to the civil ceremony better than that archy feather thing in the picture above...

I tried to get a good look at the rings when they were kneeling in the church and the priest blessed the rings...why couldn''t they zoom in MORE??!!!!

There was a picture in the slideshow on the MSNBC website of both hands with their rings.

In both cases the wedding bands were plain and not particularly wide.

Camilla was wearing hers on the fourth finger of the left hand along with the engagement ring (the wedding band appeared to be yellow gold while the engagement ring was platinum colored (i.e. they didn''t match). I thought the bands not being of the same color metal was unusual. If Diana had done that in the 80''s we''d have a new fad. Not so much here I''ll bet.

Charles had no ring on the fourth finger but was wearing TWO rings on his pinky finger, a plain gold band matching Camilla''s with a ring with a seal on it on the same finger (you can see it in the picture above). I thought that was bizarre - why wear your wedding band on the pinky finger.

Actually, I heard during some of the coverage yesterday, that that particular statement is standard in Anglican weddings in the UK. It didn''t address any particular sin just all those that we all have in our lives.

I think there was something special about the gold rings...forged from gold from some special mine...in Wales, maybe??

Here''s a picture of the outfit she wore at the civil ceremony..

Here is another picture of the outfit Camilla wore for the blessing; this one shows its length.

Yes, the wedding bands were made from the same nugget of Welsh gold used for other royal wedding rings. Someone else (not I) wrote about this on Pricescope, perhaps in this thread. If someone else doesn't unearth it (pun intended), I will look for the reference after my houseguests leave!

i LOVE the feather hat with her particular hairdo and the total outfit in general! but then i like hats! what an elegant and royal outfit. possible trend for those over 50 wanting some style without looking 20-something?

peace, movie zombie

HI:

Handsome couple. I thought Camilla looked absolutely stunning and I not only loved her choices of wedding clothing--but accessories as well. I wish them well.

cheers--Sharon

I cannot remember where I read it but I remember reading a while ago that only a Prince is entitled to wear his wedding ring on his little finger. That is probably why he wears them there.

I never knew it was the custom for Princes to use their pinky finger for the weddng band.

With the way everything else in the planning process was screwed up I wondered if someone told the jeweler to make the ring in a too small a size and when Charles put it on he could only get the ring to fit on his pinky and had to walk out of the ceremony wearing it like that until he could get it fixed.

Maybe Camilla will become the new fashion arbiter of the geriatric set!

What are the British tabloids saying? Are they as impressed as we all seem to be?

I loved the outfits Camilla wore, especially the one she wore for the blessing.

I feel asleep during the blessing (it was midnight in Australia) and woke up just as they were leaving the church.

I thought the booing by some of the crowd was appalling. Diana was no saint herself so the ''Diana Worshipers'' should get a life and get over it.

They have been kind ....

The Sun I love their headline "Here Cams the Bride!"

The Mirror talk about their 33 year old love affair and how they looked very much in love.

Sparkster - I think some of the booing was because after the civil ceremony they didn''t do a walk about or pose for pictures and some people had been waiting hours. News of the World

No public event in the UK is conplete without a steaker.....alas the cameras missed it! Bare faced cheek!

I thought they looked splendid and so happy. Camilla''s outfit for the church blessing was just lovely. I cracked up when one commentator said she had a hard thing to accomplish with her outfit, not to look too much like a bride and not to dress like her MIL, Lol!!

The press all over the world is now extolling the virtues of Camilla''s choices for the wedding day! I have read detailed descriptions of what she wore everywhere!

This is an official portrait of the wedding.

Prince Charles and Camilla went to church on the Sunday after their wedding while on their honeymoon in Scotland. Prince Charles wore a kilt, as he often does. Camilla wore red and, I think, looked smashing! (And no more cracks about "the geriatric set"! She''s just a few years older than I am!)

Ooh - I''m not very keen on the aqua number Camilla''s daughter(?) is wearing. I know we often accuse older people as mutton dressed as lamb, but she''s the opposite. She''s a gorgeous young lady and looks frumpy

For those who cannot get enough information about the wedding of Charles and Camilla, this article will tell you some of the things you need to know about Camilla's clothing! Some excerpts follow.

"There was no doubt that Camilla, Britain's new Duchess of Cornwall, made a good impression with the clothes she chose to wear on her wedding day.

...

After the service Saturday, as she stood with her new husband on the church stairs, Camilla kept a steadying hand on the head-dress, which was covered in gold leaf and tipped with crystals.

But for the actual wedding ceremony, which was held earlier in the day, Camilla chose a swirl of a dress in cream silk topped by a matching coat.

The outfit was crowned with a stylish and intensely feminine straw hat overlaid with ivory French lace and trimmed with a fountain of feathers.

...

The new duchess' coat, in oyster silk basket-weave, featured subtle herringbone embroidery while the silk chiffon dress, hemmed with vertical rows of appliqued woven disks made in Switzerland, peeped out beneath.

...

For the service of blessing at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, the duchess changed into another Robinson Valentine design, a long, fitted silk porcelain-blue dress and high-collared coat embroidered with gold thread, with a slight train; Clarence House said shades of blue and gold were her favorite colors.

...

The outfit was inspired by a piece of jewelry that had belonged to the duchess's mother; Robinson Valentine researched embroidery, technique and fabric in the textile collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum and decided the desired effect required them to create their own fabric.

On her head, the duchess wore a feather head-dress covered in gold leaf and tipped with crystals.

Her shoes were pale gray shot silk with subtle gold embroidery detail on the toe, and she carried a small, simple bouquet of gray blue and yellow flowers tied with the same kind of silk used to make her dress."

The parts describing Camilla's wedding clothing are excerpted from this article below.

"The wedding of Charles and Camilla was a triumph of style success over fashion excess.

It heralded a new era of courtly glamour, ushered in a resplendent new royal role model for the over-50s

...

The new Duchess of Cornwall delighted fashion observers with two outstanding ensembles, by her favoured British designers, Robinson Valentine, and the milliner, Philip Treacy, which in their mix of medieval and modernity were fashionable, flattering and restored the phrase 'suitable for the occasion' to style parlance.

The designs also displayed a wealth of subtle and ingenious detail.

She wore a red coat trimmed with the Rothesay tartan, together with a matching plaid blanket-shawl against the cold, and a Treacy beret pinned with pheasant feathers, to attend Crathie Parish Church yesterday.

Stunning, breathtaking and amazing were just some of the superlatives in usage as style pundits rifled through their Roget's for the apt description of the wedding. The overall consensus was the bride - with her design, hair and make-up team - had 'got it absolutely right'.

For the civil ceremony, the former Mrs Parker Bowles chose an immaculately tailored, edge-to-edge, oyster silk coat with intricate basketweave stitching, over a silk chiffon dress with hem embroidered in silk tulle and Perspex discs.

Her wide-brimmed hat, by Treacy, worn at a slight tilt to show off her face, was in natural straw and French sheer lace, finished with a graphic fountain of ostrich feathers.

For the blessing, she changed into a floor-sweeping Guinevere-style coat and dress in porcelain-blue and gold. The medieval coat, in silk brocade, was cut simply to frame the face and neck, before curving into the waist and then flaring out into a short train which billowed out beautifully in the wind as the couple emerged on to the steps of St George's Chapel. Underneath was a matching, porcelain blue silk gown, hand-embroidered in gold thread.

The ensemble was set off to perfection with another Treacy creation, this time a shimmering head-dress of gold ostrich feathers with Swarovski crystal tips.

The designer, Jasper Conran, who created the wedding dress for Lady Sarah Chatto, said: 'The whole effect was breathtaking, full of spirit and beauty. The clothes were faultless, perfect and right. There was not a false note anywhere.'

'The first outfit was very ladylike and suitable and the second was completely ravishing,' said the style guru, Nicky Haslam. 'The whole day has given her a huge fashion boost.'

Hamish Bowles, the European editor-at-large of American Vogue, agreed. 'It's quite clear she's not going to be restricted to the timid gesture and is prepared to make a glamorous, flamboyantly faultless statement when the occasion demands,' he said.

'I've never seen her look so pretty,' said Lucy Yeomans, editor of Harpers & Queen. 'It's a tough call to do bridal at her age, but she gauged it perfectly. The long coat and gown for the blessing was glamorous, but also appropriate and adventurous, too.'"

Here is what Yahoo.com news had to say about the passage:

"Charles and Camilla''s confession to sinning is a standard element of an Anglican blessing of a civil wedding. However, they chose a particularly stark wording from the Church of England''s Book of Common Prayer, which some took as public acknowledgment that their relationship was at one time adulterous. They publicly resolved to be faithful."

The Royal wedding watchers on NBC & CBS said that it is a prayer out of some 1600 prayer book that is Charles's favorite prayer book. They said it was a prayer not particular to wedding ceremonies & that the congregation repeats it when the "Minister/Church" chooses to use this book. They, the wedding watchers, said the media picked up on this passage and read WAY to much into it. 4 of them dismissed it as nothing to note.

Edited to add - To my surprise, Camilla did look lovely. I especially like the Tiara twist w/ feathers tiped in gold leaf & Swavoski crytal tips.
