I've been buying some things here and there. Mostly gifts for my son and my daughter. I bought an iPad today for my son.
And some clothes I know he wants. I usually have a list and tackling it by this time of the year, but not the case this year. Out of it - guess
it's the wedding planning.

YOU put us all to shame with the Christmas tree, the decorations... YOU are Christmas as far as I am concerned....

NO I am not thinking of it, heck it's not Halloween. Talk about it after THanksgiving... But do love you spirit, and best wishes for the wedding!!! :wavey:

I am! I am amazed I actually got started but we are so tight on cash we can't afford to wait this year. So lots of little gifts this time around!

I'm doing some early shopping, but for a different winter-time event: my parents silver anniversary!! I'm planning a party with family and all of their close friends (some that they've known since highschool or college, and one from gradeschool!) and searching for a nice gift. Sorry to be off topic, I am just so excited that I had to share!

:errrr: No not again so soon! I'll let my fingers do the shopping on Black Friday or perhaps on Cyber Monday.

I have actually finished all of my christmas shopping! My husband is always in charge of getting gifts for male friends/family....so he will get his part done on christmas eve, as always  The only thing still on my list is some back-up gifts....just in case!

nope! I go shopping the week before Christmas -- right after my last final!

No. Mid to late November is a huge birthday month for us. My sister, her daughter, my husband, his mother,my son, my stepfather. I always have all that looming before I can think about Christmas, so I'm all out of ideas by December.

I have got quite a few done, I have 5 young nieces and 2 daughters and earlier this year the charm bracelet thread inspired me so I have been buying a bracelet and a charm a month and just have one set to go. I think this will make future gift giving times easier for me also :appl: Gotta love that!

I'm feeling the pressure, but I haven't really started yet. It's hard to think of gift ideas for the 3 people we buy for! Just our daughters and each other, but the pressure comes in finding all the small stocking stuffers that are actually worthwhile things. Usually I have a grip on it by now, but not this year for some reason. :o

It's easy to do when all you buy for is one person :D But alas, I have $70 more dollars left in my xmas budget... hmmm what to get what to get... :D

No, hadn't even thought about it yet! We're in birthday season right now and my kids seem to be happy with just a few things: mostly video games, so we'll probably just get them a few of those and also I like to get them new pjs. That's it. Not exchanging gifts with any relatives. Very low-key holiday this year :)

Yes I have started, but just little stuff so far...I have to sit down and figure out my list and what I am gonna buy then go from there. My hubby gets quartly bonus checks and he gets one the end of Oct, so I always do my shopping around end of Oct thru Nov and try to be done by 1st of Dec :twirl:

I shop early because I want to enjoy the month of December, ha ha!!

I get the nervous heebie geebies when I have stuff hanging over my head. I don't mind doing some
shopping in December, but I like to have the big stuff bought, wrapped and under the tree by 12-1 !!

Hi All,

Yes, i have, but it was quite accidental. I read a shopping forum and one woman wrote"quick they put a lot of items on clearance. So along with many others my fingers walked to the clearance section and I found silk scarves for sale for $10.00. I was so excited I just counted up all those people I have been meaning to give a gift to, but don't, because they really don't expect it and ordered 8 different silk scarves. They had been $69-79.00. So, in my house this is the year of the silk.scarf.

When I was young my first job was a teller in the E60's on Madison Ave. The customers always gave us gifts. I have always wanted to do that myself. So, this yr the ladies get----. The men, so far nothing. It was really fun.

Of cours no Hermes.

Thanks,
Annete

I haven't started yet. I wish I was more organised. I really should get motivated. I always feel more christmassy when the decorations are up in the shops.

I would much rather have lots of little pressies than one big one

I've picked up a few gifts for the kids...it actually feels nice to be started. I keep asking for xmas ideas from my kids
and they arent giving me much to work on! Got to keep bugging them I guess!

I haven't actually bought anything, but I already know what I'm getting my parents and am keeping an eye on my husband's family's Amazon wishlists. :wink2:

I'll probably do the actual purchasing in late Nov. or early December.

I've purchased a few things, and will probably be done by the end of Nov at the latest. I DETEST shopping durning the Holidays, and try to get it done early!

I've been buying some things for the kids but nothing big.

I was thinking the same thing. Bebe, I always love seeing your decorations, etc. at Christmas time.

I haven't begun shopping yet but I was just talking to my mom about this today. She said that she and my dad would prefer a gift certificate to a new restaurant or tickets to an event rather than an item. My husband and I are the same way. Now I have to hunt around for something in the New England area for my parents. I'm thinking a B&B or tickets to a show in Boston or something...

No - too many things have 14 or 30-day return policies, and I don't want the return period to expire before we gift the item, especially for bigger-ticket electronics

Yes. FI has been diligently putting together gifts for my parents since earlier this summer. Since he has no family, he takes my relatives' presents quite seriously, and they reciprocate. I love him so much!

Not only this, but I am know myself and will go over budget if I complete the shopping early. I will go shopping when school is on break in December regardless of whether or not I finished earlier and I am really unlikely to not buy when I shop.

Funny you mention this. When I was buying the iPad, I casually mentioned well if my son wasn't exactly happy with the model I bought he could exchange it. Apple guy says no, only 30 days for that. Bummer. Kinda would have thought Apple was better than that. I'm going to buy another for DD and her fiance, I think I'll wait til early December !!

(so when are ya'll going to start decorating, tee hee! I'm gathering things up and rethinking some decorations I've used in the past)

No, it really spoils Christmas for me if it starts in October. I don't do a huge amount of shopping, just small gifts for close friends. I don't have a big family and we don't have much of a tradition of gift giving anyway. Usually just my parents and three aunts, and five friends and their children. DH and I don't really exchange gifts, just little fun or token things. The gifts that I do buy will be bought online and delivered, and we'll do a lot of visiting / hosting, so I'll order some food gifts and treats for that.

I love Christmas, really looking forward to it this year.

ETA we'll decorate on the 18th December - day after my mother's birthday is the correct day to begin (I grew up being told that, I think I may have internalised it...). We'll put up the tree then, and some holly wreathes, but that's it. Christmas wasn't even a public holiday in Scotland until the 1960s - I'm probably going overboard by local standards.

Not me! I like to wait until December.

Not yet! I do a lot of shopping with my mom on Black Friday. We shop all night and get lots of great deals. I have, however, been eyeing Christmas decorations in some of the catalogs we get. I am really excited to decorate our new house this year!
