Anyone have D colored diamond?

I have a D colored 1.25 diamond. It is in a ring with channel set small round diamonds. There are 17 totaling .34 cts. Those are G-H in color. I noticed a big difference in color between the big one and the small ones. Technically I should because there are a lot of colors between D and H. But what I was always told was G-H diamonds are near colorless and when mounted, especially small ones, you can''t tell the difference. Does anyone else notice a difference? I was just wondering. I don''t think its a big enough problem for me to do something about it.

I don''t know anything about where you got your diamonds from, but it is possible that the small diamonds are not actually G-H? I don''t see much difference between my D emerald cut and the G-Hs in my eternity band, but then I also don''t see a difference between my eternity band and my J colour RB... although I DO see that my eternity stones, which are only "fair" cuts, look darker and less bright white than my ideal J... maybe this type of optical illusion is responsible for the apparent color difference? (i.e., the smaller diamonds are poorer cut than the larger...)

I have a D center stone and my sister in law has a G. I can see a bit of a difference, but only if I literally have them smushed together. But - I did try on her 7 stone wedding ring, also Gs, and I could definitely tell the color difference between my center stone and the stones in the band. Maybe the quantity of smaller diamonds has something to do with it?

Hi there. My center stone is D and my sidestones are Fs. I can''t tell a difference at all, but I had an H before and I could tell more color in the H side by side with the D.

Hi, I have a D, E, F, & G and I can tell the difference between the G and the other three. Some people are more sensitive to color and you may be one of those individuals.

My solitaire is E, when worn with H wedding band I can see a difference but nothing major, maybe bc the stones aren''t large. It takes me a few seconds though, depending on the cut most people won''t notice it.

I have a D stone in a solitaire, wedding ring with G stones and a HOF 5-stone anniversary ring with H stones. Surprisingly I can''t see any difference in colour between the D and the H stones, just because the small stones are also so well cut. However, the G stones are cut poorly, look darker and less bright both than D and H.

I have a D diamond and my side traps are E/F and it''s fine except my main stone has fluro and the side stones don''t so it bugs me a little. BUT my wedding band is F/G and I do notice a difference. I wish I would''ve gotten a F stone for my engagement ring instead of the D. D is overkill IMHO.

Nobody but you will notice the difference in your main stone and side stones. I wouldn''t change anything.

This is good info for me too. I have a D ering and am looking to order a 5 stone anniversary ring (1.00 cttw). I was
wondering how low down on color I could go before I would notice the difference. Seems like you dont have to
go too far and since mine will be right next to each other looks like I better stick to the upper colors. Can anyone
tell me HOF stands for...chiquitapet mentioned a HOF 5-stone anniversary ring. Just wondering what HOF meant?
I''m still pretty green here so these acronyms thow me sometime.

The reason why I have a D colored diamond is because I was looking for a well cut pear shape about 1-1.25 cts. I also wanted it to be G colored and either SI 1 or 2. The jewelry store took about a month and a half to find some. The ones that were closest to what I wanted were not cut as well so of course I told them to get them out of my sight! I didn''t even think about what colored diamonds to pair it with until the ring was already set.

What color diamonds does everyone have their D solitare set with?

My sides and eternity are g-h, center is D. I do not notice the slight difference enough to really matter. I think it makes the center pop. The look to me is "fresh." I can understand though what you are talking about...if it''s something that bothers you, then you need to do something about it.

Here''s a picture of my center compared with the sides, and eternity. The center doesn''t look this "dark" in person. Hard to take good pics of the color difference. I honestly don''t really notice. Maybe it''s an optical illusion with the eternity reflecting light around?

I think you have a good eye for color. I have an F in my center and G-Hs in my wedding band, and I think H-J in my sidestones on my engagement ring. Cut does WONDERS for the color in your stones. I can''t see much separation between my center and my band (these stones are all AGS 0), but I can see it between the center and the semi-mount! I liked the look because my new setting was "antique" and therefore looked like it belonged. It''s all a matter of preference!

I also have a D colour solitarie and my wband will be a channel set band with F colour ACAs.

I am pretty paranoid when it comes colour, so I went with F colour stones. That said however, I doubt I could tell the difference in small stones anyway, so I would have probably been safe with Gs too. It''s incredibly hard, if not impossible to find D colour melee, and unnecessary IMO. If you stick to F-G, then you certainly won''t have a problem at all. It comes down to what you are comfortable with too.

I bought a D centre stone also, but do not have side stones. I do have an untertified eternity band which was supposed to be G-H''s and it looks dark in comparison to my D. But my WF eternity which I think is ACA F''s looks comparable.

My earrings are D & E ACA''s and look idential to me. Interestingly I bought an I OMC recently and it looks great against my D ES.
