As the title states... Does any one know of a discussion forum for wedding planning. My fiance and I have tons of questions about planning our special day but really have no resources as none of our friends have planned a wedding. These discussion forums offer exceptional information as we have all found on this forum. If anyone has a URL that would help us love birds out. Thanks.

Oh my god - you have to go to my favorite web site of all time - second to this one that is: www.theknot.com.

The great thing about it is you can talk to people in your area (its boston for me) and chat with people about great vendors and get critiques of reception locations, etc.
My favorite part is how you can build a bio of your wedding planning for others to see. I love it!

And they have a budget tool where you input your costs and it adds it for you. That thing has been my lifesaver.
Also they have a checklist of things to do by certain dates - another amazing feature.
And they have a registry with linens and things and fortunoff.
Have I raved enough?
If you want to check out my bio - please do - just do a search for my screen name there or go to the Boston board. I'm "honeybearsgirl"

and the best thing? ITS ALL FREE!!!

The Knot is good, but I much prefer the format of www.weddingchannel.com. The boards are very busy and you should definitely find all the help you need.

I LIVED on www.theknot.com ... there's no better site.

You can also visit www.weddingchannel.com (and if you register for gifts, this is the site that hosts the registeries).

weddingchannel.com's message boards have been keeping my fiance up until the wee hours of the night... I think it's busier than the knot!

Derek, us Knotties are up until the wee hours of the morning too! It's ADDICTIVE!

Edited to add: even more amazing is that we have had Knottie get togethers ... a lot of them. People are having them all over the country .. I went to one here in Miami, FL and we all sat around talking weddings for hours!

I'm going to have to agree with Ultimate Wedding and the message board over there, www.weddingchat.com

I've been on ultimatewedding, weddingchannel (my registries are there), and theknot...but I have to say that for message board questions and just BREADTH of information and responses on the boards, theknot is the best. Especially when it comes to things like destination weddings which we are doing. Theknot has such great local message boards, I can go there to the Hawaii board and ask a question and get about 10 responses in less than a few hours. It's great. The only thing is that their search functions are so horrible, you have people asking the same questions because they can't find the answers in the archives. But I found all my Hawaii vendors on theknot from other knotties who did the same thing we are doing, and have gotten every question answered and then some.

Weddingchannel is great for resources, pictures, research, etc but I don't even know if they have boards nor do I really want to find out. Theknot is the best for that IMO. But weddingchannel is awesome for linking your registries together, have 3 or so? Link them all through wc and then anyone who wants to get you a gift or view your registries just needs to go to wc and look you up once. It's much easier than going to each retailers website and trying it there!

My two cents! Good luck!!

I tried the knot didn't care for it much. I love the message board at www.weddingchannel.com ( under community Lots of info, loads of help from everyone on the boards, tons of pics which really help when planning. Just an all around great atmoshphere.

Of the 3 sites, Wedding Channel has the BEST search engine where you can limit search terms to say a particular City, or aspect of the wedding planning process. Ultimate Weddings and the Knot have a very clumsy search engine. All 3 boards seem busy but I still say Wedding Channel is an order of magnitude busier. For example, they have a thread on Chinese brides who need to vent (LOL) with over a 1000 replies. The Following URL is the Wedding Channel message board. Just click on search option to put it to use:

http://www.weddingchannel.com/cgi-bin/gx.cgi/AppLogic+com.wc.Utility.NavBarForStaticHtml?location=http://emerald2.weddingchannel.com/WC2/LocalBusinesses/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi&frmSection=none

Try it out and see what you guys think.

Mara, no way theknot's wedding boards are busier than the weddingchannel's. Girl, you've got to check them out! Plus, the format on theknot is sooo hard to read. You haven't experienced a wedding board until you've gone to the weddingchannel. (And no, I'm not affliated with them in any way!)

Problem with the ultimatewedding site is that it's heavily cens...uh, monitored. Makes it harder to have honest discussions.

Someone should do a little informal test... Go to each board and do a search for say "Los Angeles Photographers" and see which boards yields the most info on LA photographers.

NO WAY Hest you don't know what you're talking about!!!

Just kidding.

You're probably right. I didn't run a comparison of WC to TK....just started using TK and loved their Hawaii chat board and the fact that everyone was so cool and fast with responses. Don't know why I never checked out WC's boards. I have used UW's boards for a few things but not much. I'm not a big poster...I'm a lurker on the wedding boards...esp since TK doesn't have the cool 'email me when someone responds' unless its your post, so I would miss any responses to posts that aren't my own anyway.

Oh but Mara, who cares? If it's not your post, we know it couldn't possibly be of any importance!
