Hi there, we upgraded my solitaire for a 3 stone ring. When my ring was appraised the clairity was less than I was told it was by one grade. Is clarity subjective? Should I make a fuss? The stone looks the same as my old one in my solitaire and they were supposed to have the same clarity, actually it is sparklier as the cut is better. The centre stone is the one I am concerned about however it appraised at 10 points larger than I was told so should I just call it even? I am very happy with the ring.

Firstly, which grading report does the diamond have, GIA, AGS, IGI, EGL etc? Grading is subjective so it can depend, but some labs can be stricter than others so it is important to know which type of report the stone has, or if it has one at all. Also what clarity grade were you told the diamond was and which grade did it appraise at? What is the colour grade and did that check out?

10 points to me is a big difference, did you have the appraisal done by a true independant appraiser and was the diamond unmounted?
