This is my issue with aquas, a lot of stones' colors are really blue-topaz blue so to speak. When I think of aquas I see greenish blue.
My mom (who has passed on her love of jewelry) tells me to WEAR YOUR GOOD STUFF. She is adamant. Life is way too short. She says you can pass it on when you go...and wouldn't it be nice that whoever gets it remembers it being worn and loved by the one who passed it on. She's 100% right. Wear those aquas!Thank you so much!! You’ve inspired me to wear these tomorrow since they don’t get worn enough.
Ooo, I can play!
I only have one Aqua ring at present, the stone was from JD and the setting was inexpensive
I have more non-EC Aquas from JD, however none of them have been set as I decided I prefer EC cut for Aquas.
This one is from JW, and I am hoping to have it set next year (inspiration ring pic attached) with the Morganite traps that he had cut for me (pic attached). Don't have the spec to hand, however it is about 6ct.
I prefer my Aquas pale with a hint of green. This one was unseen, not even the rough - I just said yes to Jeff's description what he thought the finished stone would look like, size and colour wise and said yes.

I really love the setting that you chose. It works so nicely with your aqua. Very elegant.Ooo, I can play!

These are all of the aquas I have right now. None are the sea foam green I keep looking for! It’s also impossible for my clumsy self to get them all to sit just right at the same time so there are tilt windows. All are precision cut. Also, every room in my apt has different types of lights but none are great for gems. It is around midnight when I took these pictures so no access to sunlight either. Definitely not showing the aquas to their best potential...
Hehe I hope I don't get struck by lightening for this. I sent her a text asking about gems in general.
Response: I would never say no to any gem or jewellery sis. I'd love another pink one day.
So I'm thinking of offering up:
Purple pink spinel ring, peridot ring and a pink tourmaline for her to pick. I keep mum about the aqua. I'm also taking her to a fancy dinner and bought her a dress already.
Aqua with the spinel ring on offer because this is the aqua thread
@GardenLady21 it's a very Elsa from frozen kind of blue with a dash of green.
@marymm I didn't tell her I was getting her an aqua. She actually needs a green ring and we've been looking for green stones. I could give her my already set peridot which I know would be a welcome edition to her collection. I guess I just feel bad because this was intended for her but I've been wanting an aqua and this is my perfect stone in all goodness.
I feel like a crappy sister.
That has to be my favorite aquamarine of all time, Suzanne! The setting is spectacular, too Whenever I see your name, that piece pops into my mind, lolI've posted this before, but not in the Aquamarine thread. I bought this in Tuscon from John Dyer's booth. I wasn't looking for an aquamarine, just browsing, and this bad boy popped out of the case and into my hand before I knew what was happening.
The light green and the wavy cut makes it look like flowing water.
