Are you worried about the Coronavirus?

Would you all get a haircut on Saturday with everything?

I don't know about that. I'm supposed to go.

No I would not. And in fact all the shoppes here have closed. Nothing is open besides pharmacies, banks and food markets. That is all. All with reduced hours too. It's the smartest way to go IMO.

Trumps use of the term “China virus” is seriously irking me. I’m Chinese. Im a doctor. Please stop making it harder for me to do my job.

I have definitely noticed people looking and scowling at me more. If I get assaulted and can’t go to work due to other humans being horrible I will be so so mad.

OMG I have not heard that term before. DISGUSTING! I am furious! @MakingTheGrade I am so sorry and I know you know those people who are giving you scowling looks etc are IGNORANT. Thank you for all you are doing for everyone else in keeping them well and getting them well and for being on the front lines. Stay safe and be well.

My dad has it (over 70 but no health issues); he's beginning to recover now (started late Sunday afternoon). I'm just waiting for my mum to get it (she's isolating in the house with Dad). In a way I'm glad they got it (and thankfully haven't so far required any intervention).

Just hoping that they have some immunity now; I'm unclear on whether you can be reinfected.

I am sorry your dad came down with Covid-19 but relieved for you he is recovering!

I ordered this touchless foaming soap dispenser to try to make hand washing a bit more fun for my little one.

Love this. So much fun. And bright and sunny. Way to go and make handwashing a fun experience for your little ones!

Yesterday I had to go to NJ to get a toenail removal (again) and we stopped by Costco there to pick up cat food for our NJ ferals. Well surprise to us they are limiting the cat food (to one bag) we can buy. OMG. We feed 20-30 feral cats in NJ and now we cannot get enough cat food :(

I am against hoarding under all circumstances but what about those of us who are feeding lots and lots of cats? We cannot leave them to die. We always buy lots of dry cat food for the ferals since our automated feeder holds 40 lbs and we cannot get to the beach house every few days. Especially if we get a shelter in place order here and then I do not have any idea what will happen to my ferals. :(

And no neighbor is going to help our ferals out at this time so I know enough not to ask. It's us or nobody and I am so worried for the cats.

Oh no! Can you buy one and Greg buy one? Then go back the next day and do it again if needed?

Only one per family! So upsetting though I do understand the reasoning behind it. I just wish they would take into account those feeding more than their crew. We can't realistically go every single day as it's a lot of miles and time and dear Greg is fatiguing...he is over 60 and had TKR 2 months ago and well this is all wearing on him. He is very calm however and not concerned about the virus or food situation as I am the worrier in our relationship (I always say to him if he worried more I could worry less lol). All this to say is we are no spring chickens and traveling all that way back and forth every day is too much. Plus it looks like Costco might run out of supplies or else why would they be limiting the cat food? IDK what to do but I am taking it one day at a time. We hope to go back Monday and get more cat food and fill the feeders again but we won't know the situation til we get back to Costco and see if they have dry cat food. Plus g-d forbid if we become sick the cats don't get food (which is why I am trying to keep the feeder fully stocked so just in case) so I am very concerned about that as we cannot predict when we might become ill...

How is your DH feeling today? How are you feeling?
(((HUGS))).

I placed an order on Petco.com Tuesday for dog food; it’s scheduled to arrive today per the tracking information. At the time I placed my order, there were no noted ‘quantity limitations’ in effect. If you try and there are limitations now imposed, maybe place an order on Petco, an order on Petsmart, and an order on Chewy until you can get the quantity you need. But also rest assured that - as feral cats - they’re also probably good scroungers and will find a food source.

I am up a bit due to cats and my exam that is in less than five hours, but DH is still in bed sleeping for another couple of hours. I can't decide if I am better off staying awake and prepping for the exam or if I should try to convince the cats it isn't anywhere near daylight and sleep for another hour  (the joys of still being stuck sleeping on the couch since surgery!)
I am feeling okay-ish. Constantly exhausted, bit of a runny nose, achy, bit of a challenge to breathe, and cold like I have a bit of fever again. Nowhere near as sick as I was three weeks ago, but not great.

I do worry about DH. His oxygen drops when he sleeps and gets very low if he rolls onto his back. He was at 92% yesterday morning!

Good luck on your exam today! Is 92% bad on the oxygen? I forgot all my O2 info...
Take care of yourself and please try to rest if not before this exam maybe after? I am worried about you. Sending you healing hugs and lots of love across the miles.

Dr says go to ER if it drops below 90%. That is the level they usually admit to the hospital for oxygen and whatever. They want to be seeing closer to 96% as normal. Mine usually sits at 99% with a dip to 98% while sleeping. DH is a bit lower with 97% dipping to 95-96 when sleeping.

Sorry to hear so many posters here or their loved ones are feeling sick! Keeping everyone in my thoughts! Hope recoveries are speedy!

I kind of wish my city would just order a shelter in place. I think pushing “social isolation” leaves room for interpretation and a lot of my friends are having hurt feelings with each other or people they’re dating when they disagree on whether visiting each other is still ok.

A lot of my friends have serious partners but don’t live together yet and sometime one person feels it’s ok to still see each other in their homes and the other feels it’s a bad idea and conflict ensues. Same even with friends who just don’t see going to each other’s home as an issue since it’s just 3-4 people which is under state recommendations of 10 or 50 etc. it’s also causing roommate fights. if there was shelter in place then people could just say no and blame the law lol.

I’m a little on the outs with some of my very close friends who miss me and want to see me and I’ve said no.

Missy, I'm sorry about the cat food problem!

Thank you for taking care of the feral cats!

My significant other (who lives in a different city) successfully ordered us more cat food and it shipped. Could you try online delivery to your beach house so it is waiting for you when you get there? I know it is more expensive but probably worth the peace of mind.

On a different note, I used the Walmart order and pickup service for the first time. They are scheduled out few days. I could only order two cans of each cat food flavor. I don't normally by cat food from them but anything to keep the girls' supply up. I also was able to buy 40 lbs of bird seed and 3 multi packets of suet. No limits on the wild bird food. My food options were very limited no eggs, fresh produce, or frozen goods. I ended up with bizarre versions of canned goods. All of this is sitting in the garage and will for days.

Is Chewy limiting? might be worth a try. I don't know how big the bags for cat food are, but for dogs they can be pretty giant.

@missy this is a really dumb suggestion but can you just give them dog kibble? I know it's not ideal but better than starving?

Of course I know nothing about cats cuz I have Goldens who will eat anything. Current baby can no longer tolerate raw bones (gets diarrhea) so just eats kibble and human food (full Viet meal and she's as right as rain but no raw bones go figure). I don't know if it's same for cats though.

Good luck on your exam today @TooPatient. I admire your ability to compartmentalize with everything going on. It's probably helpful to have something else to concentrate on....and dust to your family & hope hubby is doing better!

Who's THEY? the feds? the state? the town? we are so disjointed in this country, with a lack of leadership they could be anyone. Again, who's THEY?

@missy
I am on autoship with Chewy and was notified that shipment might be slower than usual but they are otherwise still shipping as usual. It seems quite a bit are sold out already.

To those who - themselves or their loved ones - are ill (be it CV or other) my thoughts & prayers are with you for a full & speedy recovery.

We’re doing what we can to look after our vulnerable family members (mainly our parents, all of whom have conditions making them high-risk) and make sure they have what they need. I’ve worked from home for years now, hubs is retired, and we’re generally homebodies, so there’s not really much other ‘change’ for us in all of this. But I can appreciate that it’s a challenging time for everyone, as well as the desire to stay glued to the news, twitter, facebook groups, etc. for ’the latest’; however, I am choosing to largely adhere to what my doctors have always said: stress, anxiety & constant worry can & does weaken the immune system which just makes you more susceptible to getting sick. The majority of the ‘news’ is pretty much non-stop finger-pointing and as toxic - if not more - than the virus itself, IMO.

DD is a different story, albeit a little humorous. I told her a few weeks ago - when it became clear people were starting to panic - that “shizz is gonna get real here soon” & to ensure she prepares. She (and others in her age group/younger from what I can tell) take that to mean less foot traffic at the mall, maybe periodic internet outages. Well guess who stopped by last week when she was down to <half a roll of TP and appeared shocked there was none to be found within 3 counties? She didn’t seem amused when I offered her pine cones from our back yard, so I did the ‘good mama’ thing and gave her a few rolls of TP, some pantry items, and a few frozen meals I’d made, as the grocery store shelves are now largely bare ... then told her to lock this in her memory for the next time I say “shizz is gonna get real”, though I hope I never have to.

My $0.02 - be smart, stay well, and maintain a sense of humor & laugh when you can, as that IS good for your health.

Prayers outgoing @TooPatient
One of my x clients runs a plastic molding company, I heard he volunteered to produce anything medical they get him blueprints for at cost.
They told him it would take 18 to 24 months for him to be certified to produce anything medical.

Unbelievable @Karl_K! :x2

Is there any way you can defer your exam? It doesn’t sound like you’re well enough to be forced to sit one. I hope you and your husband both feel better soon.

I do not know how true or reliable this is, however, words are out that lock-down of London is imminent!

DK o_O

@dk168 Honestly don't know. I am well away in the north. Very few people out and about here.
I guess there will be more announcements around 5pm.
Take care! x

So, this person went to the FDA? The FDA said sorry but you can't make anything? There is much more to this story, this is hearsay or at least anecdotal. Full story please.

I am really worried for my son who has booked on a Qantas flight to return home from London this sat after the university made official announcement to have end of term exam online. All international students are encouraged to leave as the situation doesn’t look good in London. We need to find him a place to carry out the SHV (stay-home-notice) imposed. Sigh! So worried for the long haul journey too.......
