Thanks all for your encouraging words and for your positive thoughts.
We had the house inspected today, some news is good, some not so good.
We''re trying to weigh our options. Seems that there are some electrical and
plumbing issues---also the lovely kitchen cabinets may not be anchored to the
wall very well.

We''re getting price quotes, and seeing what we can ask the seller to pay for.
It was chaotic, though. The home owners were there unexpectedly, because
SHE had gone into labor! She was walking around trying to say calm having contractions.
We were just feeling uncomfortable and bad for adding more stress to their day!

Still not sure what we''re going to do, but I''ll surely let you know!

good luck tybee!! that''s the thing with older houses, there is inevitably going to be some maintenance issues that you have to take care of, kind of why we are happy with our townhouse, hopefully we''ll move away before anything huge has to happen, but also HOA covers alot of potential issues.

i hope that the issues can be handled with not too much $$ and hopefully the seller will pay for 1/2 or similar and then it won''t be so bad, keep us posted!

Thought I should tell you all--- we terminated our contract today. I''m a bit sad, but feel wiser from the process.
There were just too many issues, piping, asbestos siding, inside wiring. The owner just didn''t want to work with us.
It''s sad, but suddenly we''re a lot richer again,
and our honeymoon just swanked up a notch. I just wanted to say thanks for all who were helpful in thoughts and words.
We know that we''ll find OUR house some day, this one just wasn''t it.

Now, back to focusing on the wedding!!!!!

Aww.. too bad Tybee! I''m sure it was for the best.. You''ll find the perfect house.. and in the meantime.. you''ll have some extra cash!

Thanks MelissaSue,

I know that you''re right, I just can''t help feeling really sad about it. Lots of lessons learned in the process, though.

awww tybee, sorry to hear that but it''s definitely for the best!!! you don''t want to have to deal with a bunch of pre-existing conditions esp if the sellers are being difficult. the next GREAT house will come along when you guys are absolutely ready and that one will be the one, I totally believe in fate for stuff like this. also as you said a great learning experience, sometimes it''s good to have one of those so that you are more wise the next time around and can be super savvy during the process.

I''m sorry to hear that Tybee.

Don''t be too sad. Just think about all the headaches you are saving yourselves from. You''ll be better prepared for the next home-buying opportunity. AND you have more cash in the bank and a swanky honeymoon to look forward to!!

Tybee, I''m so sorry things didn''t work out for this house, but it was probably for the best. Now you can focus on the wedding & save some money while you wait for the right house to come along. Still, I know it''s disappointing...
