Got the call today as I was driving home from work. They''ve signed the contract. Now we just need to get it inspected.
If there are no scary things found in the inspection... we seem to have ourselves a house!
I''ll post a picture of the outside. It''s a 1920''s house, built in a neighborhood where all the houses are similar in age.
The floors are all original hardwoods. There are three fireplaces, and the ceilings are over 10 ft high.
Thanks AG! It''s not real yet, but it''s fun for me to go the real estate listing and see "contract pending" on this house!
I''m already making plans about decorating it. I''d like to pop the lattice out from the attic and replace it with some stained glass~ not sure if that''s doable or not.
Oh Tybee it's SOOOO CUTE. I love houses like that! And it looks like it's in very good shape already, hopefully you won't have to do much of anything to it? Except the fun inside stuff! Oh and of course adding some rosebushes to the front! Some pink cottagey ones would be beautiful up along the front of the house and would soften the lines.
It takes forever to decorate...we just started our third year here in our place and I JUST bought artwork for the dining room which has been naked walls til now. Our master bedroom still has naked walls...it's such slow going to find things I really want to buy and keep around for a very long time! But fun.
Oh, thanks for letting me share this with you all!
It''s really been fun!
Mara, I''m sure that it will take us well over three years to fill our house!
I''d much rather live in an empty house with naked walls and slowly fill it with things
that we love, than fill it with some of the junk we have now.
I"ve been walking around the house throwing things away in my mind all weekend!
Next problem, how do I convince FI that his HUGE television will not work in our quaint little house??
Okay, let me post more pics: There''s not a lot that we''ll have to do for the next couple of years to it. We will eventually want to add a bathroom, and maybe finish the attic to add another bedroom.
AND the back porch, that looks over a lovely back yard, perfect for my spoiled puppies---
I''m probably a fool to post these all now~ I''m hoping that I haven''t jinxed us on the house inspections and all the other nightmares that are right around the corner.
I love all the wide molding. You are going to LOVE being homeowners. We have lived in our house for almost three years and its STILL not finished. Many of the rooms are on version 2
FI has since fell in love with tile (esp. slate) so many of the floors plus bathrooms are being redone. My best advice, just have fun and take things slowly.
the funny thing is that we only planned to be here 5 years but i am like damn its year 3 and the place is only 1/2 decorated the way i want it, we may have to stay longer just to enjoy it all!
i have totally fallen in love with ballard designs stuff and the house is turning into a slow blend of ballard, pottery barn and restoration hardware stuff. hmm. does that all match? hehee. i like it!
Wow Tybee! What a fabulous house! I love the dining room...the exposed brick gives it such a warm italian feel! And I am super jealous of your backyard...i have none to speak of. That deck looks like what I see in my head for our future permanant home. Good luck with the inspection and the rest of the proceedings!
I LOVE IT!!!!!!! It reminds me a bit of our house.. don''t really know why.. its not really the same style.. but from the same era (ours was built in 1926)
Its adorable!!
The adorable exterior, the exposed brick in the DR, the lovely woodwork, hardwood floors, gourmet kitchen, 3 fireplaces & a deck....perfect! Congratulations!
Your house is perfect! it is exactly what i would hope fiancee and i could move into some day. I''m definately NOT a fan of huge sprawling homes. I love older houses with interesting architectural details (like your built-ins in the living room) and heaps of charm. I actually search for real estate on craigslist using search terms like: cottage, bungalow, lovely, charming, sunny
Ha ha! Pictures can be deceiving! There''s nothing HUGE about that kitchen. It''s pretty small, it''s just new---which is a plus.
The whole house is pretty tiny, but we feel like we can expand UP in the future, maybe finish out the attic.
We get the home inspection on Wednesday! I''m really excited to get inside it again, knowing that it might be OURS!
Tybee! The house is just to-die-for CUTE! It looks like it''s in super great condition--I am sure everything will go well with the inspection. It is obviously a very well-maintained house and that makes it all the more likely that nothing major is going to come up with the inspect! But I''ll send positive vibes your way, JIC!
Really, that house is just so cute! And space in the attic to expand, it''s perfect! Add me to the jealous list! Oh and a YARD?!? I''m totally drooling.
I also see the resemblence to MelissaSue''s house. Lucky girls!
This house is ABSOLUTELY Gorgeous! My other addiction besides old jewelry is old houses... and to me, this is top-notch "fay cullen" of the real estate world. Not too gaudy, not too huge, but gorgeously done and very charming!
Congratulations on such a wonderful, fabulous find! (I am a little jealous!
) Have fun!
