So, here we are and we are very unhappy.
I’m sharing this to find solace with others whose expectations have been turned to blah.
Maybe there was a warning, the drama with the first lab diamond being designated a bio hazard by Customs and then being too small and so returned and the replacement larger diamond albeit received without any trouble.
Then the 2 months with the jeweller, unexpectedly much longer than anticipated but such is life. Picked up Christmas Eve, just in time for Christmas and just before the jewellers holiday break. Jeweller was out, just the junior assistant serving so I said I will be back.
Well, where do we start?
With the brief? I wanted the diamond fully bezel flush set within the space where the watch face was. The watch is platinum but I agreed with 18ct white gold. Simple and straight forward - yes? I did originally ask that the watch case remain “openable” mainly for cleaning purposes but I was told not possible, so hmmm, ok.
Let me preface this with the my 20 year plus association with the jeweller and my dozens of jobs and many, many thousands of dollars of work. Such is the relationship I don’t even ask for a quote up front, I trust this jeweller to deliver quality work at a fair price.
Until 24 December 2024.
Let us start with the “seamlessly” soldered closed watch case, then we have the flush set, not, diamond. Moving onto the sizeable uneven gap, both ends, large enough to gunk to enter to never be removed. Then we have the “hacked shark tooth effect” to the bezel which is not only not requested it is poorly done, not straight, not holding the long sides of the diamond, extremely ugly and sharp, yes, sharp enough at the corners to actually cut your finger. Finally we have the damage inflicted upon the original setting and the turning of my VVS centre diamond into a visually “frozen spit / I 3” diamond thanks to gunk left behind underneath and possibly the setting structure that holds this “masterpiece of workmanship” together.
Yeah, not happy.
Very very not happy.

Omg Bron I'm so sorry it turned out like this! I guess we can never be too trusting. With the holidays and them being shut, I'd try and take it up with them ASAP. Although I feel like the damage is already done and anything it would never be perfect again.

Oh Bron! I'm so sorry it turned out this way! After the palaver that was getting the diamond to you in the first place, I had hoped the setting process was a smooth one. I hope it's resolved quickly once the jeweller is back.
