Hello Friends!
This post has been a long time in the making. Many of you know I’ve been through quite the journey while on my way to this upgrade… I joined PS back in 2010 when searching for cushions for my original engagement ring, I started with a beautiful 2.5 J, VS1 OMB flanked by 2 bullets made by Mark T. at BE… then got the DSS bug, and halo’d my OMB, also through BE… she was beautiful, but I was just so over the Halo, and wanted to relish in one big Door knob of a stone. I am at a different point in my life now, and my collection has definitely evolved as have my tastes. I made a pit stop in the OEC world, on my way here, lol. In 2023 I acquired the most GORGEOUS 4.5 OEC, and while stunning, she was too warm (something I learned about myself during the process). I had David Klass set “Coco” my old OEC and she was a stunner! But, I decided to sell that Diamond and setting so that I could focus on my Pear. I’ve loved Pears since the early 2000’s when Jessica Simpson was still on her first marriage! If you look at some of my old threads you see me inquiring a lot about Pears… I already acquired the big ole’ round eternity band this last Christmas, and was eagerly awaiting complimenting it with my 3 stone. I wanted SPREAD! I know this pairing isn’t for everyone, but I love SUBSTANTIAL piece’s!
I knew I wanted something classic… so off I was to shop for my Pear just as soon as Coco sold! I contacted a couple of the PS vendors, who were all lovely… but, I reached out to Yekutial at IDJ- who I had never worked with before, and was so impressed with not only what he found, but his competitive pricing and follow up! My dream ring went from concept to fully finished in a matter of 3 weeks. I’m still so impressed! The *only* thing that I question a bit is the size of the side pears, I “kind of” wish I had gone a tad bigger… however, with that said, they do compliment the center stone and going much bigger worried me, as I didn’t want to take away from the center… it’s a slippery slope, as you all know! Plus it would have been an additional $2k for the upgraded stones, and while not really a ton in the grand scheme of things… I had already lost a little bit of money with the sale of my last ring, and was trying to mainly focus on spending on the main rock! I also had very specific parameters… nothing lower than an H, 13x8 mm min, Minimal bow tie, ratio in the 1.60’s, I like a true tear drop shape. Astrid is also a 4 main, so the rounder end performs a little more like a round brilliant (which I learned from @tyty333!) and minimizes the bow tie effect.
I was also worried about warmth, I know Pears tend to show their warmth and after having an OP diamond in my last upgrade, I knew I needed WHITE. I didn’t want to go below an H, and boy does she look ICY!!! I think she looks bigger in pictures than in real life, however I am a size 4.25, and also recognize that I’ve got issues, I can admit that. Could I go bigger? I could, but not by much! She’s pretty perfect!
So here she is:
Brilliant Pear
3.02, H, SI2 (the cleanest! I can’t see a darn thing!)
13.62 x 8.09
Platinum setting
.60 cttw side pears
Ratio 1.67
Enjoy! And HUGE thank you to all of my fellow Pricescope friends who have helped and supported all of my acquisitions over the years! Enjoy the Photos!![]()
Thank you! Me too, I keep staring at my finger, lol!I love the finger coverage! It’s incredible!!!
Thank you!Beautiful! I love pears and feel they're underrepresented!! This is gorgeous!
Thank you so much!Pear diamonds are so beautiful and yours is a large, stunning example of why people love them. The sparkly diamond looks perfect on your hand and I love the blingy band. Such a wonderful upgrade. Wear it in good health.
Thank you!!What a ring, it’s gorgeous!
Awe, me too! Thank you! Will post today! So in love with this set! Enjoy Astrid, and post a ton of pics please!!!
Thank you so much! You have been so helpful and instrumental in my search! Your stamp of approval means so much!Congratulations @TruLuv858 ! She is lovely! What great finger coverage between your two rings! I dont think DSS
will be setting in any time soon!
Thank you!! I LOVE the set together, and I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I am just loving the substantial bling! And I sooo appreciate of your approval of this pear, I know you have a super discerning eye and are sensitive to color- so your comment means so much! I will say, this shape and ratio would be PERFECT for a pendant! I was honestly a little worried about the 'H" color given my eternity is super bright and G color- but there is no issue in color difference, at least anything that would be super noticeable to me, and I stare at Astrid all day long, lol!Oh my goodness, Astrid is to die for!!!!
The look of Astrid paired with your eternity band on your gorgeous hand is sheer class with a pinch of sexy thrown in! You got it going on!
I think the proportions of the main pear to the sides is perfect, and I also love the shape (l/w ratio) of the center stone. I'm a pear lover, and have been longing for a pear soli necklace for a long time, so when I finally get off my duff and start hunting for a stone, I'm going to ask you a ton of questions.
Wear in good health and blingy joy!
Thank you!! The Ratio is everything, I really do feel like I struck gold here because she is SUPER Spready, and SUPER eye clean! A couple of little tiny feathers and a clear crystal I can't find without a loop for the life of me!Astrid is beautiful! I love her 1.67 ratio and she looks incredible on your hand. Talk about alllll the sparkles and real estate! And I can’t believe she’s an SI2!
Thanks for bringing “4 main” to my knowledge and maybe this is the original post by @tyty333 on 4 main vs 8 main. I had no idea that this was a way of evaluating pear cuts (admittedly I’ve never studied them in much detail) but now that I’ve seen Astrid I’ll definitely pay closer attention and maybe try some on.
Also, as a fellow size 4.25-er, it’s making me think about getting a larger eternity (or maybe 5/7 stone) - yours is substantial and yet so elegant!

Thank you! I am so glad you think this is a classic piece as well! I really wanted something timeless and not trendy! This is just a gorgeous classic look.
Hi Kim! Thank you so much!Gorgeous and so blingalicious!I've enjoyed following your journey and I'm glad you've found the perfect rings for you!
Thank you so much! Pears make such gorgeous pendants too!Holy smokes - this is a stunning ring! My first ER was a .96 pear. It has since been reincarnated into a pendant. But anyway, your ER and that eternity band is a look for the ages. Congrats.
Thank you!! Glam is so my thing, so I appreciate this comment so much!Absolute perfection, very glamorous indeed!
